The independent French seed company Caussade is one of the leaders in the production and sale of seeds of the main agricultural plant species. In a short time, the cooperative has grown into an agricultural holding whose interests are scattered around the world. The company has been operating in Russia since 2012, but during this time its products have gained the trust of domestic farmers.
How the company developed
The beginning of the activity and development of the agricultural company begins with the organization of the Agricultural Cooperative Society (SICA SCS) in France in 1958.The interests of the farmers were aimed at producing their own products, and already in 1962 the cooperative began commercial operations. The high quality and responsibility of employees allowed us to constantly develop partnerships. Already in 1972, SICA SCS entered into a cooperation agreement with an American corn seed producer.
Breeders are constantly working to produce new varieties with better characteristics, and by 1975 the agricultural company received a certificate to conduct research and produce new varieties and hybrids of corn. In 1984, scientific developments were carried out to study and produce new seed material for sunflower and rapeseed.
The year the Caussade company began was founded in 1989 - the German Caussade Saaten GmbH was founded. 1991 – SICA SCS cooperative transforms into Caussade Semences SA. In 2001, the joint company GIE ACTISEM was created - this allows us to begin developing and selling new varieties of grain crops.
The company begins to spread throughout Europe:
- a Belgian representative office was opened – Semences Belgium – 2002;
- 2009 – Italy and Romania, companies Caussade Semences Italia and Caussade Semences SRL Romania;
- 2010 – Bulgaria – Caussade Semences Bulgaria, Hungary – Caussade Vetomag Kft, Poland – Caussade Nasiona, Serbia – Caussade Semences Serbia;
- 2011 – Netherlands – Caussade Zaden, Czech Republic – Caussade Osiva;
- 2012 – a representative office opens in Russia – Caussade Semences Russie, in the Middle East and Asian countries – Afrique Moyen-Orient, Turkey – Tohumculuk Tarim Ltd.Sti.
Thanks to the company's activities, the geography of seed supplies covers all continents.
Study and breeding of main varieties and hybrids
Specialists at breeding bases scattered throughout Europe and the world study varieties and hybrids of competitors and their own selection and, while preserving the positive qualities of the variety, add a set of positive properties to old varieties. This work is carried out constantly in all areas of agriculture.
Testing of a new variety is carried out for 1-2 years, and only after the conclusion of an expert commission the variety or hybrid goes on sale.
By studying the positive properties of varieties at the genetic level, scientists can combine the beneficial qualities of several crops to create a new hybrid that is not afraid of the effects of diseases and pests. This allows producers to reduce the cost of treating plants with chemicals and makes vegetables environmentally friendly and harmless to human health.
The company spends 14% of its budget on scientific work. Work is being carried out in 11 research centers in European countries and around the world. Scientific research has allowed the release of 500 new crop hybrids and 60 varietal plants.
The company produces zoned seeds for 35 world countries.
