In the last days of July, grape bunches begin to ripen, but during this period, diseases often affect leaves and shoots. When using a chemical preparation, the crop cannot be consumed for at least two weeks, so this type of treatment is contraindicated. There is a fungicide that is safe for grapes and people. It is possible to treat grapes with hydrogen peroxide throughout the entire growing season without harm to health.
The benefits of treating grapes with peroxide
Most often, the drug is used to treat wounds as a disinfectant.But few people know about its invaluable properties for plants. For grapes it is used as:
- bactericide;
- fungicide;
- as an additional source of oxygen.
Hydrogen peroxide breaks down into:
- atomic oxygen is a strong oxidizing agent that can destroy fungal spores and bacteria;
- water.
Due to these qualities, the drug is used in agriculture to spray grapes against diseases and to stimulate seed germination.
How to prepare a solution for treatment
Depending on the purpose of use, various treatment solutions are prepared:
- For prevention. Add 300 ml of hydrogen peroxide 3% to a 10-liter bucket of water. It is recommended to treat the plantings at least four times per season.
- For treatment. 250 ml of 3% peroxide are diluted in 8 liters of water.
- For better growth. For 10 liters of water use 250 ml of 3% peroxide.
- To improve seed germination. The seedlings will be healthier if the seeds are pre-soaked in a solution prepared from half a liter of water and 25 ml of 3% hydrogen peroxide.
The prepared solution will help achieve your goal only with the correct dosage and used in moderation.
Indications for use
Often, well-grown grape seedlings begin to die in containers. First the leaves wither, and then the plant dies. The most common cause is overwatering, as a result of which liquid displaces air from the ground, which contains oxygen necessary for the root system. Due to oxygen starvation, the process of roots dying begins in just a day.
In this case, a solution of hydrogen peroxide, which is used to water the seedlings every three days, will help.
At the moment of fruit ripening, the leaves and shoots are affected by diseases:
- oidium;
- various rots;
- anthracnose;
- mildew.
Spraying with the prepared solution helps save the plantings. Also, the use of peroxide for processing grapes promotes better growth and development of the plant.
Processing rules
Before using the tool, you need to understand how process grapes correctly and not harm him.
When planting seeds, it is recommended to pre-treat the soil and container. To do this, mix:
- 4 liters of water;
- drug bottle.
The resulting solution is watered onto the soil three days before planting seedlings or seeds. This procedure will help kill all pathogenic bacteria, insect larvae and eggs. It is recommended to water the soil with the same solution after harvesting. If affected by diseases, treat systematically until the plant becomes completely healthy, but no more than once every five days.
Before you start treating all grapes with peroxide, you need to look at the effect of the solution on several bushes or leaves, and necessarily on all varieties. There are times when the taste of grapes deteriorates. Spraying the plant against pests and diseases is carried out carefully. To do this, treat the leaves on all sides, as well as the stems.
If, during application of the drug, white spots appear on the soil that resemble mold in appearance, stop watering and spraying the plantings. Only periodic treatment with the drug is carried out.
A cheap product helps root cuttings. In order to prevent their rotting, dissolve a tablespoon of the drug in a liter of water and leave the cuttings for the prescribed time. Before planting, the soil must be disinfected with hydrogen peroxide.After pruning the grapevine, it is recommended to treat the cuts with a preparation, then allow them to dry and cover them with garden varnish.
