The Miracle Khrustik cucumber is an early-ripening, high-yielding hybrid, which was bred by breeders of the seed-growing company Aelita. These cucumbers with a distinct taste and crispy flesh will please even the pickiest gourmets. What is hidden under the “wonderful” name?
Description
The hybrid belongs to the parthenocarpic species of cucumbers that are capable of pollination without human intervention. In appearance, this feature of the Miracle Khrustik is excellent for growing both in open and closed ground. From the moment the sprouts appear until the fruit begins to ripen, 38–40 days pass. The plant is medium branched, indeterminate. Large leaf blades are painted bright green.
During the flowering period, the plant is covered mainly with female flowers. From 1 to 3 fruits are formed in one sinus. Cucumbers are cylindrical in shape, narrowed at the bottom. The tuberous surface is covered with short white spines. Thin dark green skin is diluted with white stripes that reach the middle of the fruit.
If the cultivation technology is followed, the weight of cucumbers varies in the range of 60–80 g, length – 9–10 cm. The dense, crispy flesh has a distinct aroma. Unlike some types of cucumbers, the Miracle Khrustik variety does not taste bitter. Productivity of greens per 1 sq. m. beds - 9–11 kg.
Cucumbers are suitable for fresh consumption and for preparing canned vegetables. The hybrid is especially successful after salting, as it retains most of the primary characteristics. Your grandson and granddaughter will definitely appreciate lightly salted crispy cucumbers.
Thanks to the painstaking work of breeders, the cucumber has the following advantages:
- high productivity;
- resistance to fungal diseases;
- short period of fruit ripening;
- suitability for transportation and keeping quality;
- good presentation and organoleptic characteristics;
For the description of a cucumber to be confirmed in practice, the crop needs to be properly cared for.
Features of cultivation
There is an opinion among gardeners that parthenocarpic varieties, to which the Miracle Khrustik f1 cucumber belongs, are not suitable for growing in the garden, since under the influence of temperature changes, the bushes form crooked. And the species was developed specifically for greenhouses and greenhouses.
Despite all these arguments, experienced farmers claim that hybrid cucumbers tolerate weather surprises well and produce a high-quality harvest that is suitable for any purpose.
The seeds of the hybrid crop are planted in the garden bed after the risk of return frosts has disappeared. The seeds are placed in grooves 2-3 cm deep, covered with damp soil and covered with film. As soon as the sprouts break through to the surface, the cover is removed from the cucumbers. In the event of a sudden cold snap, the seedlings are covered at night, since severe frost can destroy the bushes.
If you want to get a harvest of greens as soon as possible and save yourself from worrying about the weather, the seedling method is used for growing cucumbers. To do this, seeds are sown in a container or individual cups. Cucumbers are also grown on the windowsill, providing them with the necessary conditions. After the seedlings are planted in a permanent place, they begin to care for them. For normal growth and ovary formation, cucumbers need:
- Watering. Since they are very demanding of moisture, the bushes are watered frequently and abundantly. The water for moisturizing should be slightly warm, otherwise rot will appear on the plant due to temperature shock. Watering is done as the soil dries. To improve aeration and water permeability, after each watering or heavy rain, the soil between the rows is carefully loosened. Because the cucumber root system laid close to the surface, it is impossible to treat areas with a hoe near the stem.
- Garter. To ensure that the plant is well lit, the bushes are formed into one stem and tied to trellises. It is especially important to carry out manipulations on cucumbers that grow in a greenhouse, where every centimeter counts.
- Feeding.During the growing season, nutrients are added to cucumbers 3-4 times. Organic solutions and multicomponent mineral fertilizers are used to fertilize the crop.
