Growing without seedlings
Like any other variety, the Magnat f1 cucumber loves well-lit, sunny areas. Therefore, choose a place for planting that is as sunny as possible, protected from drafts.
A versatile plant of this variety, suitable for any growing method. The simplest is to sow directly into the ground on the site. Seeds are sown in well-warmed soil (+15–17 ⁰С), the period is calculated individually for each region.
The main condition is the absence of night frosts. Around the end of May, beginning of June. The method is simple, but you will have to wait longer for the harvest than with the seedling method of growing. Affects the number of cucumbers per bush.
To increase the yield of Magnat cucumbers, you can harden the seeds. To do this, they are placed in water, after being wrapped in gauze. After a few days, when the seed has swelled, it is sent to the refrigerator. The temperature in it should be -3 ⁰С, more is possible, less is not possible. Leave it there for 2-3 days.Then they are planted in the ground at a distance of 50–60 cm. The planting depth is 1–2 cm.
The germination rate of cucumber seeds with this method of cultivation is low, so several seeds are planted in one hole. After germination, weaker plants are removed. You can't tear them out, you can only cut them off.
This method has the advantage that when transplanting the roots of the seedlings are damaged, this will not happen here.
Growing from seedlings
With this method, the cucumbers will begin to ripen 7–14 days earlier. Seedlings 2–3 weeks old are transferred to the soil. Seedlings should have 3–4 true leaves.
The seeds are preheated. To do this, they are placed in a warm place, the temperature should be +25 ⁰C. Then the germination rate will increase. Large seeds of normal weight are suitable.
The hybrid variety "Magnat" does not require pre-sowing preparation.
The time for planting seedlings also depends on weather conditions. You can sow throughout April. The soil is prepared in advance:
- 1 part sawdust;
- 2 parts peat or humus;
- For 10 kg of mixture 1.5 tbsp. spoons of nitrophoska, 2 tbsp. spoons of wood ash.
Everything is thoroughly mixed and placed in containers. 1 germinated seed is also planted there. Water the containers once a week. Once the desired size is reached, they are planted in the soil.
Proper care of plantings
Cucumber culture loves sun, abundant watering, loosening and fertilizing. Regardless of the place in which they are grown, watering is carried out with warm water. Best after sunset. A lot of water is needed while the cucumbers are blooming; water once every 6–8 days; during active ripening, once every 3–4 days.
While the plants are small, it must be loosened frequently, approximately 2–4 cm deep. Gradually, as you grow, reduce to 1 time per week.
Cucumbers "Magnat" f1 are parthenocarpic, so there will be no special problems with pollination; the plant will give a rich harvest without the participation of insects or humans.
It is best to feed with organic fertilizers, paying special attention to the crop during flowering and fruiting. Mineral fertilizers are introduced at least 5 times per season.
