Beekeeping is returning to its former popularity. Many people enjoy this activity, which brings in good extra income. To ensure that a novice beekeeper does not have problems consuming his own honey and trading beekeeping products, it is necessary to obtain an apiary passport. Let's figure out what kind of document this is and why a beekeeper needs it.
What is an apiary veterinary passport?
An apiary's veterinary and sanitary passport is a document that reflects important information about the beekeeping farm.Even if there are 1-2 hives on the site for a person’s personal needs, and he does not sell honey or other bee products, obtaining a passport is mandatory.
The document can be drawn up at the district sanitary control department at the location of the facility. It has a uniform form and filling rules. The registration procedure is free for the beekeeper.
Basic data in it
The passport contains basic information and sections in which notes are placed on the condition of the apiary. The condition is assessed annually by a veterinary service employee visiting the site. Inspections are carried out in the spring or autumn.
The document has the following information:
- information about the owner of the beekeeping farm;
- its location;
- number of hives on the site;
- information about inspections of the sanitary condition of the facility;
- about diseases of bee colonies.
The passport contains information about the honey plants available in the district, the presence of industrial enterprises, the condition of the site (presence of a fence, cesspool, toilet) and hives (painting, presence of insulating pillows, feeders inside bee houses, distances between them). Information about the condition of the beekeeper's overalls, disinfectants and disinfection tools in the apiary is required.
Information about serious illnesses of families, the type of treatment, notes on the introduction of quarantine, information about the tests performed and their results are entered.
The passport contains a section with recommendations for prevention (disinfection rules, recommended medications, protection against rodents).
How to get it?
It has a uniform form and filling rules.To obtain it, you must personally appear at the office with the following documents:
- your civil passport;
- an application in the established form addressed to the head of the district health service;
- an extract from the household register confirming the existence of the object is issued by local authorities;
- documents confirming the presence of personal subsidiary plots.
If the hives are located in a dacha, a document indicating ownership of the dacha plot is required. The application is accepted by the veterinary service staff, the beekeeper is informed about the date of the apiary inspection. Based on the inspection by a specialist, a completed document is issued.
A veterinary passport gives its owner the right to trade honey and other beekeeping products, buy and sell bee colonies and queens, and purchase foundation. A product certificate, mandatory for trading honey, propolis, wax and other types of bee activity, is issued on the basis of an apiary passport.
Before issuing an apiary passport, the owner should familiarize himself with the legislative acts regulating the activities of the beekeeper (the Law “On Beekeeping”, the Law “On Personal Farming”), local and regional rules, and restore order at the facility. In this case, the process of completing the document will not be difficult and will allow you to do what you love legally.
