Such products can be easily placed in a pigsty and are safe to use in confined spaces. The imperfections of the method include the fact that the product does not prevent flies from entering the pigsty, does not neutralize fly eggs, and is ineffective if replaced infrequently.
Folk recipes
Weakly effective in case of dense colonization of pigsties by flies. More suitable as preventive measures.
3 most effective recipes:
- Essential oils have a pungent odor that insects do not like. Effective volatile substances: oils of clove, eucalyptus, lemongrass, peppermint. They are not recommended to be used in their pure form. A few drops of the product are dissolved in 100 ml of water and sprayed in the barn.
- Bunches of fresh or dried plants that have an unpleasant odor. “Aromatic repellents” include: wormwood, tansy, bay leaf, mint, tomatoes, elderberry. The bundles are hung or laid out so that animals cannot reach them.
- Vodka, vinegar. Flies cannot tolerate the pungent odor of these products. To repel pests, they are sprayed indoors, avoiding contact with food, bedding and the animal itself.
The advantages of traditional methods in combating insects are accessibility and effectiveness.
Chemicals
They get rid of annoying pests for a long time, but have an unpleasant odor. If the processing technology is violated, they can cause side effects, allergies, and poisoning. Harmless to pigs, proven products:
- "Agita". With the correct dosage and use it does not cause side effects. It is prohibited to treat feeders and other surfaces with which pigs will come into contact. The duration of the drug is from 1 to 1.5 months.
- "Delta Zone".Completely destroys adult insects, as well as their offspring, within 1.5-2 months. Moreover, the product is completely harmless to people and piglets. The drug does not have a heavy odor. Sold in 50 ml containers, this amount of insecticide is enough to treat a pigsty with an area of 100 m2.
- "Solfisan". A broad-spectrum drug. Flies die within a few minutes, their eggs and larvae die after 2-3 hours. Insects are poisoned again no earlier than after 1 month.
- "Medilis Cyper". It goes on sale in the form of a liquid emulsion, which, after dilution with water, destroys pests at any stage of development. The effect lasts up to 3 weeks.
The preparations are diluted with clean cold water. All surfaces in the pigsty are treated with freshly prepared product. After 3-4 hours, those places that come into contact with animals are washed. In cases where it is not possible to remove drinkers and feeders from the barn, their surface is treated with a brush.
Animal handling
To prevent insects from bothering pigs, they are treated with folk remedies with a persistent “aroma” or with special chemicals. If the dilution rules and application technology are followed, no side effects are observed. The main thing is to strictly adhere to the safety measures provided for when working with insecticides.

In premises where pigs are kept, it is impossible to completely get rid of flies.
