Advantages and disadvantages of indeterminate varieties
Pink Magic f1 tomatoes are an indeterminate hybrid. These tomato varieties are characterized by unlimited growth of the main stem. For a gardener, this means that in southern climatic zones or in heated greenhouses, such tomatoes can grow for more than a calendar year, managing to produce a harvest of up to 50 bunches during the fruiting period. Bushes of tomatoes such as Pink Magic must be formed by removing absolutely all stepsons, leaving only the main stem.
Since indeterminate varieties bloom after releasing 9-12 true leaves, with peduncles planted after every third leaf, to obtain the greatest harvest it is necessary to provide the bush with a fairly long daylight hours and space for the maximum number of ovaries on the stem.
When choosing one variety of tomato, you need to take into account the region of your residence. In southern regions with a mild climate and long daylight hours, Pink Magic can be grown both in a greenhouse and in open ground, tying the tomatoes to trellises or high supports as they grow.
IMPORTANT: In central Russia and slightly to the north, where the average temperature in summer does not exceed 23 degrees, this hybrid can only be grown in greenhouses, preferably in heated ones. In northern regions with short daylight hours, it is better not to grow indeterminate varieties, since due to late flowering and fruiting they will not have time to fully reveal the potential of the variety.
Disease resistance
The Pink Magic hybrid is resistant to the most common tomato diseases, which so often upset gardeners, since they simply negate all efforts to obtain a good harvest. These are diseases such as:
- Alternaria mold;
- bacterial spot or dwarf bushiness of tomato;
- gray leaf spot;
- fusarium rot of the root collar and roots;
- verticillium wilt of tomato.
However, resistance to these diseases embedded in the varietal characteristics of a variety is by no means a guarantee of 100% protection against them. Prevention is necessary, it just requires an order of magnitude less effort, since the seeds themselves have already been treated with the fungicide Thiram.
Bacterial spotting or dwarf bushiness of tomato affects planting material, so there is only one prevention here - do not plant diseased plants. The causative agents of other tomato diseases - Alternaria, Fusarium, Verticillium - are fungi. The pathogens are found in the soil, on plant debris in the form of mycelium and can wait in the wings for several years.

- Spraying with fungicides, for example, 5% solution of copper sulfate, copper oxychloride, Fundazol, Topsin-M;

Agricultural technology
Pink Magic, like everyone else indeterminate tomatoes, grown through seedlings. Seedlings are sown 50-55 days before placing them in a permanent place. This is approximately the first half of March.Pink Magic responds to slightly acidified soils, so it is best to sow the seeds in a lightly compacted peat layer. After abundant watering, it is recommended to cover the container with film and leave it for germination in a dark place. As soon as the shoots appear, the film must be removed and the sprouted seeds placed in a bright place.
IMPORTANT: In the first week, it is important not to overheat the seedlings; the optimal temperature is 20 degrees.
Since the hybrid is distinguished by a powerful, developed bush structure, it is advisable to pick the seedlings at the stage of releasing the second true leaf. It is optimal to plant tomato seedlings in a permanent location when the soil warms to 16 degrees. By this time, the seedlings will reach the age of 45 days. Seedlings can be planted in greenhouses at the age of 35 days or in the first half of April.
To create comfortable conditions, you need to plant Pink Magic no more than 2-3 bushes per square meter. Having reached full strength and bearing the first fruit, the bushes require feeding with sodium-potassium fertilizers. Under favorable conditions for the hybrid, the ratio of sodium and potassium is 1:2; during hot and dry periods, the ratio must be increased to 1:3 in favor of potassium.
