Description and instructions for use of the herbicide Eurolighting

The practice of cultivating sunflowers using the Clearfield system using the herbicide Eurolighting to destroy weeds is increasingly being used. A powerful herbicide that controls all common weeds, including broomrape, which has low susceptibility to chemicals. In order not to harm the sunflower and surrounding crops, you should follow the instructions.

Composition and release form of the drug Eurolighting

The herbicide in the form of a water-soluble concentrate is produced by BASF (Germany). Sold in 5 and 10 liter plastic containers.

Active components in Eurolighting:

  • imazapyr (5 g/l);
  • imazamox (33 g/l).

An improved product is also being produced - Eurolighting Plus. It contains a reduced concentration of the main components, but added excipients. The result is an increase in the “aggressiveness” of the effect on weeds.

Mechanism and spectrum of action of the herbicide

Once on the plant, the active substances quickly penetrate into the internal tissues and inhibit the ALS enzyme (acetolactate synthase) present in plant organisms. The enzyme catalyzes the synthesis of the amino acids leucine and valine. After ALS is suppressed, protein formation in tissues is interrupted and the plant dies.

Eurolighting destroys broomrape, wheatgrass, quinoa, ragweed, other weeds and dicotyledonous species.

Clearfield treatment is used exclusively for sunflowers that are not sensitive to imazapyr and imazamox. These are hybrid varieties - Zaklik, Tristan, Rocky, Zakhist, Brio, Neoma and others.

After using the herbicide, soil aftereffects are noted. The remaining particles of active substances cause incorrect and insufficient development of subsequent cultivated plants. Therefore, proper use of crop rotation is required.

Advantages and disadvantages of weed killer

Among the advantages it should be noted:

  • destruction of weeds after sunflower germination;
  • getting rid of all varieties of broomrape;
  • double action (elimination of both germinating weeds and those entering the growing season);
  • suppression of the development of perennial weeds.

Disadvantages of the herbicide Eurolighting:

  • dependence of the effectiveness of treatment on the weather (with temperature fluctuations and high humidity, the effect is weaker);
  • toxicity to plant organisms;
  • application only on sunflower plantations;
  • inaccessibility of processing from an airplane;
  • the need for further planning of crop rotation.

Drug consumption rates

The standard is 1.2 liters per hectare. But if the weeds are small and the soil is loose, then you can take a liter per hectare.

How to prepare a working solution?

The herbicide is diluted in the proportion of 1.2 liters of concentrate per 200-300 liters of water.

How to apply herbicide correctly?

Treatment is carried out once, by spraying. The drug is effective for up to 60 days. Spraying should be done on a rainy day, at an air temperature of 10 °C. After heavy rain, the procedure can be started only after 3 days.

The instructions for use indicate that the treatment is carried out when the risen sunflower reaches the stage of 2-8 true leaves. The herbicide works better when used during the period of active weed development (for dicotyledons - the 2-4 leaf stage, for cereals - 5).

apply herbicide

Eurolighting is not used together with fertilizers and other plant protection products, as it becomes less effective.

Safety rules for use

The drug is distributed carefully, without overlapping, since a double amount of the substance can destroy the sunflower. The tanks are filled with solution outside the field boundary. If the herbicide spills on the soil, the soil in that area will be barren for several seasons.

The worker must follow safety precautions: use eye and skin protection. It is unacceptable to eat food during work and to allow children and animals near the sprayer.The herbicide should not be used at a distance closer than 3 kilometers from the flight line of bees.

It is necessary to ensure that the sprayed solution is not blown by the wind onto neighboring plantings. It is forbidden to wash a used sprayer in areas where drinking water is obtained and where crops are planted.

Crop rotation restrictions

After spraying, the Eurolighting herbicide acts for some time, and planting additional crops is undesirable. It is recommended to plant:

  • grain crops - at least 4 months after weeding;
  • corn, beans - after 9 months;
  • buckwheat, vegetables - after 1.5 years;
  • rapeseed, root crops - after 2 years.

Working with the sprayer

The used tank of the spraying device must be thoroughly cleaned so that no chemical particles remain. The container is filled with clean water and left for 15 minutes. The water is poured out and the procedure is repeated.

Next, ammonia is used. A solution containing water and ammonia in a ratio of 100:1 is poured into the tank. The product is left in the container for 15 minutes, then passed through a hose through a spray nozzle. The sieves are washed in the remaining solution.

Herbicide toxicity

Herbicide Eurolighting is included in group 3 toxicity for living organisms. Toxic components are fatal to bees; once they enter the human body, they cause poisoning.

The substances in the drug are volatile and are especially harmful to the respiratory system. Therefore, you should work with the herbicide on a cool day, in the morning or evening.

Analogues of the herbicide Eurolighting

Brands of chemicals similar in composition and action to the herbicide Eurolighting have been created. Common analogues:

  • Captora;
  • Eurolang;
  • Device ultra;
  • Vitalight;
  • Euroland.

Eurolighting is an effective means of weed control in sunflower plantations. The main thing is to follow the instructions and not ignore safety measures.
