The herbicide Zenkor is widely used in agriculture; detailed instructions for use are attached to the chemical preparation, which is available in the form of powder, granules or concentrated emulsion. Weed destruction is carried out before sowing and after plant germination. From the moment of treatment until the death of the weeds, two to three weeks pass.

Composition and release form of the product
The German weed killer Zenkor has been known for a long time. New generation chemicals - Zenkor Ultra and Liquid - have an improved herbicide formula with a reduced content of the main substance - metribuzin, which did not affect the quality of the chemical.
The first drugs were produced in the form of powder and granules in bags of 20 grams or packages of 5 kilograms. Now we have launched the production of an emulsion or suspension in bottles of 20 or 100 milliliters, which dissolve better in water and foam less.
Advantages and disadvantages
Like any chemical substance, Zenkor has its positive and negative properties. The advantages include the following: ease of use, filters do not become clogged when spraying, does not have a strong odor, an effective and relatively safe product.
The disadvantage of the herbicide is that this product cannot be used to treat beds where garden and vegetable plants that are not compatible with the chemical are grown annually. Such crops include: onions, garlic, lettuce, cabbage, melons.
Mechanism of action
When treating the area, metribuzin, which is part of the herbicide, penetrates the roots of the weed and begins to circulate throughout the plant, gradually destroying it. The uniqueness of the drug lies in the fact that the herbicide composition can penetrate the weeds not only through their roots, but also through their leaves.
Preparation of the solution
Zenkor in powder or granules completely dissolves in water within thirty minutes. Before use, the solution must be stirred until small particles completely disappear.
The herbicide in suspension quickly mixes with water and does not clog filters when sprayed.
Consumption rate
The amount of chemical consumed is related to several factors.
First, you should pay attention to the amount of weed on the site; the more it is, the more saturated the solution is made, but not higher than the maximum dosage.
Secondly, the consumption of herbicide depends on the type of vegetables grown. For example, 200-300 milliliters of the product are used for one hectare of carrots or grain crops, and 0.7 liters for potatoes and tomatoes. Also, the amount of herbicide used depends on the structure of the soil.
500-700 milliliters of the substance are used to treat one hectare of sandy soils.
For chernozem you will need from 700 milliliters to a liter of solution per hectare. Clay soil is treated with 1.0-1.65 liters of the prepared substance.
Instructions for complex use against weeds
Zenkor is an excellent weed control product. The first spraying of the soil should be carried out in the spring. A protective film is formed on the surface of the treated area, which should not be destroyed. After germination, herbicides penetrate the structure of the weeds, destroying them.
Before spraying, it is necessary to level and moisten the soil surface. The solution should be applied evenly over the entire area. The minimum dose of the drug is used on light soil. Accordingly, the maximum dose is used for heavy soil.
Tomatoes
The soil under tomatoes grown from seeds is cultivated after two to four true leaves appear on the plant. It is recommended to plant tomato seedlings in already treated soil. A solution for tomatoes is prepared from seven grams of the drug and five liters of water.
Potato
Depending on the structure of the soil, the solution is prepared from 5-15 grams of herbicide and 5 liters of water. The area must be treated before the potatoes sprout.
Soybeans
Processing soybeans is similar to processing potatoes.
Carrot
You can spray the soil under carrots before germination or at the moment of root crop formation. A solution for ordinary soil is prepared from 10 grams of the drug and 5 liters of water.
In what cases is it better not to use?
Some types of vegetables and herbs are sensitive to Zenkor, so the drug should not be used in fields with crops such as pumpkin, cabbage, beets, and peppers. The herbicide is also dangerous for onions, garlic, and lettuce.
Safety precautions
Before starting to treat the area with the drug, it is necessary to protect the respiratory and visual organs from the ingress of herbicide particles. For this, a respirator and special glasses are used.
How toxic is the herbicide?
Zenkor is a low-toxic herbicide, occupying the third place of danger to humans. Does not cause allergies upon contact with skin. In some cases, after treatment, cultivated plants experience a temporary change in leaf color.
Compatibility with other effective drugs
Zenkor can be mixed with pesticides, and combined with insecticides with caution. The drug is also mixed into the infused sulfonylurea mixture. Zenkor must not be combined with nitrogen fertilizer.
Crop rotation
Zenkor is a fairly safe herbicide, but you should not let your guard down, because the active component of the substance in question is metribuzin chloride, which belongs to the third level of danger to humans. Therefore, it is advisable to plant some cultivated plants the next year after treating the soil with the drug.
How and for how long the drug is stored
If all rules are followed, the drug remains suitable for four years. The herbicide is stored in a dark place where sunlight cannot penetrate. In the room, the air temperature should not warm up above forty degrees and fall below two degrees Celsius.
The diluted drug cannot be stored; unused liquid is poured into a prepared deep hole and covered with earth on top.
Analogues of the drug
The herbicide Zenkor has its own analogues with similar active ingredients. These drugs include: Mistral, Ogorodnik, Metrizan, Dome, Groza, Advocate. Before using the product, be sure to read the instructions for use.
