Composition and release form of Prima Donna
The drug includes 200 grams per liter of 2-ethylhexyl ether, 3.7 grams per liter of florasulam. Primadonna is produced in the form of an emulsion suspension, packaged in five-liter canisters.
How does the product work?
Florasulam slows down the production and synthesis of amino acids in weeds. Acting inside the acetolactate synthase enzyme, it perfectly performs this task. The 2nd element – 2-ethylhexyl ether – helps suppress weed growth hormone.
Thanks to the coordinated work of 2 elements, the effect of using the product can be noticed after just a few days. During this time, the elements of the herbicide are distributed throughout all parts of the grass, preventing cells from developing in young tissues. The weeds finally die after 2-3 weeks.
Advantages and disadvantages
The advantages of the product are as follows:
- is an effective two-element preparation that protects cereal grains from various types of dicotyledonous weeds;
- high efficiency of the product due to the synergy of 2 active elements;
- destruction of even that grass that is considered difficult to eradicate (field thistle, yellow sow thistle);
- possibility of use in different phases of plant development, from tillering to emergence into the tube;
- quick effect;
- resistance to precipitation. Rain can weaken the effect of the drug only if it falls within an hour after spraying the crops;
- selectivity regarding all types of cereal crops;
- no restrictions on crop rotation;
- compatibility with insecticidal and fungicidal agents.
The only drawback of the drug is its high danger to humans and animals.
Indications for use
Primadonna should be used to combat annual and perennial dicotyledonous weeds growing near grain crops.
Impact speed
Weeds stop growing within 24 hours after spraying. The first signs of the herbicide's action can be noticed after 3 days.
Weeds are completely destroyed after a maximum of 21 days.
Calculation of consumption for different plants
The consumption rates for Diva are as follows (values are given in kilograms per hectare):
- for spring and winter wheat, barley in the tillering phase; for corn in the 3-5 leaf phase – 0.6-0.9;
- for corn in the 5-7 leaf phase – 0.75-0.9;
- for spring and winter wheat, barley in the booting phase – 0.9.
Instructions for use
Fill the sprayer tank halfway with water. Carefully pour the required amount of product into the tank and stir. Rinse the canister with the remaining drug with water and add this water to the sprayer container.
Start spraying the crops. Stir the contents of the tank from time to time. Treatment of crops is required once every 56 days.
Safety precautions when working with herbicide
It is necessary to prepare the solution and refuel the sprayer in a fenced area. Otherwise, others may inhale toxic compounds from the herbicide. It is necessary to spray crops strictly according to the instructions, using boom sprayers.
Compatibility with other pesticides
The herbicide combines well with different types of pesticides. Diva interacts especially well with the following pesticides:
- Singer;
- Express;
- Ovsyugen;
- Pomegranate;
- Tivitus.
Toxicity to plants
The drug is toxic to dicotyledonous plants. Primadonna has no effect on grain plants.
Possibility of resistance
Florasulam inhibits the enzyme acetolactate synthase, 2-ethylhexyl ether triggers an auxin-type reaction. This dual effect of the drug reduces the likelihood that the weed will develop resistance to Primadonna.
Transportation and storage conditions
Primadonna must be stored at temperatures from minus 10 to plus 35 degrees. It must be stored in a structure designed to accommodate various chemicals. The period during which the product can be stored is 2 years. The herbicide must be transported in polyethylene canisters with a volume of 5 or 10 liters.
Analogs
The following herbicides are considered analogues of Primadonna:
- Assoluta. A two-element product that allows you to destroy a wide range of dicotyledonous weeds on grain and corn crops. Particularly effective against tenacious bedstraw and various types of chamomile with thistle.
- Asterix. An effective two-element product that protects grains and corn from weeds. Produced by FMRus.
- Ballerina. Systemic herbicide aimed at controlling annual dicotyledons. Manufactured by August, can be stored for 36 months.
- Prima. It is practically no different from Prima Donna, but contains 1.5 times more active elements.
- Chance. Can be used to control both annual and perennial dicotyledonous grass. Manufactured by Agro-Alliance. Poses moderate danger to humans. Hazard class for bees – 3 (minor danger).
Primadonna is the optimal remedy for those who want to protect their grain crops from weeds. The herbicide acts as quickly as possible, but is quite toxic to people, so do not forget to use protective equipment.
