Instructions for use of the herbicide Puma Super 100 and application rates of the drug

The purpose of highly selective herbicides is to protect emerging cereals from weed annuals. The use of the herbicide Puma Super 100 is effective during the period of maximum weed coverage; one treatment per season is sufficient. The drug does not have an inhibitory effect on weeds that appeared in the second wave, so it is important to clearly define the time frame for the work.

Composition, purpose and release form of Puma Super 100

Herbicide Puma 100 belongs to the category of highly selective preparations intended for treating cereal areas after emergence and is effective against many types of annual weeds. With the help of herbicide they fight against wild oats, falaris, barnacle grass, foxtail grass, broom grass, bristle grass.

The active substance is fenoxaprop-P-ethyl. The composition contains an antidote - mefenpyr-diethyl. The drug is available in the form of a concentrated emulsion, in which the active ingredient is 100 g/l, the antidote is 27 g/l.

The herbicide is sold in 5-liter cans. Manufacturer: German company Bayer.

How does the drug work?

The mechanism of operation of the Puma herbicide is based on the complex effects of the active substance and antidote:

  1. Fenoxaprop-P-ethyl, once on the surface of the plant, penetrates the internal tissues and moves with the juices in different directions. In the plant body, as a result of a hydrolysis reaction, it is converted into a free acidic compound and functions as an inhibitor of the formation of fatty acids. The result is the cessation of the formation of cell membranes in plant tissues.
  2. Mefenpir-diethyl - weakens the toxic effect of the active component on cultivated vegetation. Moreover, the substance acts as both an antidote for cereals and a synergist for weeds, that is, it enhances the inhibitory effect on unwanted vegetation.

Period of protective action

Puma herbicide is Super effective against weedy cereal annuals growing on the sown area at the time of treatment. But it does not suppress weeds that appear in the second wave of the season.Therefore, for maximum processing efficiency, it is important to choose the optimal period when the sown area is covered predominantly with weedy annuals.

One spray is enough to prevent weeds from being disturbed until the end of the growing season.

If there is an abundance of weeds, it is advisable to carry out individual spraying with the herbicide during the period when the weeds are most susceptible to chemical action: before tillering is completed.

Impact speed

The drug Puma Super 100 begins to act a day after contact with plants. The weeds die completely within a week or two.

Pros and cons of herbicide

Puma herbicide is popular among farmers because it has many advantages:

  • effectiveness of application in different climatic conditions on any type of soil cover;
  • selective action due to the presence of an antidote in the composition;
  • rapid death of green mass of weeds;
  • protective period up to 6 weeks;
  • Possibility of use for ground spraying and aerial spraying;
  • lack of strict processing deadlines;
  • effectiveness against many types of weeds;
  • lack of resistance.

Farmers do not note any particular disadvantages when using the drug. The only caveat is the lack of impact on the second wave of weeds.

How to prepare the working mixture?

To prepare the working fluid, take 5 ml of herbicide per 10-liter bucket of water. Prepare the solution in stages:

  1. Combine the emulsion with a small amount of water. Shake vigorously to obtain a homogeneous liquid.
  2. The tank is filled 1/3 with water. The previously made emulsion liquid is carefully poured into the tank water with continuous stirring.
  3. The resulting solution is thoroughly stirred. Add the remaining volume of water.

Before preparing the solution, you should check the serviceability of the sprayer and rinse the inner walls of the tank with water to remove any remaining residue from other chemicals. Prepare the working fluid in an open area, away from places where food is stored, people and pets.

How to spray the drug correctly?

The optimal consumption of Puma Super is 0.6-0.8 liters per hectare. When carrying out work on a rainy day, the volume is increased to 1 liter per hectare. If the herbicide Puma Gold is used, then take a concentration of 1-1.2 l/ha. The consumption of working fluid for processing crops of both spring and winter wheat is 150-200 l/ha. Spraying is carried out once per growing season.

The instructions for use indicate that crops that are oppressed by unfavorable climatic conditions should not be sprayed. Work should not be carried out in the middle of the day in sunny weather. The best time is just after dawn or after sunset.

Mechanized measures can be carried out on the sown area 3 days after treatment with the herbicide.

Safety precautions when working with herbicide

Herbicide Puma Super 100 belongs to the 3rd class of toxic hazard for humans and animals - medium toxicity. For bees – class 4 – low-toxic substance. It is not prohibited to spray the chemical in the sanitary zone of reservoirs belonging to fish farms.

When preparing to work with herbicide, you need to wear standard protective equipment:

  • rubber work gloves;
  • high closed shoes;
  • clothes with long sleeves and trousers;
  • rubberized apron;
  • work glasses;
  • a respirator or at least a medical bandage.

Before starting work, you should warn neighbors so that they do not allow children and pets into the territory.

Phytotoxicity

Herbicide Puma Super does not have a toxic effect on cultivated vegetation.

Barley is most susceptible to the drug: blanching or yellowing of the edges of the leaf blades is possible. But the negative effect is short-lived: the leaves of the cereal return to green after 2 weeks. The phenomenon is observed infrequently and is provoked by unfavorable climatic conditions and a decrease in air temperature on the day of treatment.

Compatibility

You cannot combine the drug Puma Super with:

  • herbicides based on 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid;
  • the drug Dicamba;
  • herbicide Florasulam and its analogues;
  • chemicals based on fluroxypyr acid;
  • herbicides based on bromoxynil octanoate.

If a mixture is made with MCPA, then the concentration of this chemical should not exceed 400 g per hectare.

Before preparing the tank complex, it is necessary to check whether the chemicals to be connected are compatible. It is not advisable to mix concentrates directly without first diluting them with water.

Storage periods and rules

Store the drug Puma Super 100 in the canister in which it was purchased. For storage, choose a shaded place with more or less stable temperature indicators. Maximum permissible temperature values are from -5 to +50 °C.

The shelf life of the herbicide is 2 years from the date of issue.
