Turkey breeding is a serious business or occupation that provides tasty dietary meat for home consumption. Turkeys have good survival rate and large muscle mass. But diseases also occur among this bird. This is especially dangerous on farms or in estates with a small number of buildings, which does not allow isolating sick individuals. Baytril is a medicine for turkeys that helps with many common and very dangerous infections.
Composition and release form
"Baytril" is a drug for the treatment of turkeys, produced by the German company Bayer. It is a 10% solution of enrofloxacin. Baytril for oral use is sold packaged in glass bottles with aluminum caps. On the cardboard packaging and bottle of Baytril, the brand name is depicted in the form of two colored curved stripes (green and blue).
Bottle volume: 100 milliliters and 1000 milliliters. The picture of chicken and turkey on the vessel allows the poultry farmer to easily find the product he is looking for. For small farms, sets of 1 milliliter Baytril ampoules, 50 pieces each, are suitable. The color of the solution is yellow.
In what cases is it used?

Instructions for using Baytril for turkeys
Baytril is prescribed to turkey poults from the first days of life. 5 milliliters of the drug are diluted in 10 liters of water. Drink for 3-5 days. Salmonellosis, mixed infections and chronic forms of ailments in turkeys are treated with a double dose of enrofloxacin. “Baytril” is a weak antibiotic, therefore, when painful symptoms are discovered in birds, they use it first. After using stronger medications, Baytril will not work.
Side effects and contraindications
Additional painful symptoms after taking Baytril are rarely observed in turkeys. Possible short-term liquefaction of stool. If the disorder lasts more than a day, the drug is replaced with another and a course is conducted with the birds to get rid of the problem that has arisen.
Enrofloxacin is ineffective against streptococcal infections. If any are identified, there is no need to try to use it. Enrofloxacin is also not given for the purpose of disease prevention.
For breeding, eggs from turkeys laid 2 weeks after treatment with Baytril are used. Meat and eggs from recovered birds are consumed if they are slaughtered no earlier than 11 days after completion of treatment. Under other circumstances, the product may be fed to animals.
Storage conditions
Baytril is kept at temperatures from +5 °C to +25 °C. Shelf life – 3 years. The storage place should be dark and inaccessible to children. After opening the bottle, Baytril is guaranteed to retain its properties for 14 days if it is left in concentrated form in the original packaging.
