Many useful qualities distinguish turkey meat from other birds. However, not many farmers decide to breed turkeys, since young animals are difficult to raise. To increase survival rate, it is important to choose the right vitamins and feed for turkeys. It is vitamin complexes that can significantly increase the bird’s immunity, promote growth and full development.
What vitamins can be given to turkeys?
The simplest solution to feeding vitamins to birds is to add them to the diet. It is recommended to enrich food with several types of additives:
- Probiotics, which contain live beneficial microorganisms, help birds regain health after treatment with antibiotics.Promotes healthy intestinal microflora and improves digestion. The drugs eliminate the manifestations of dysbiosis, candidiasis, and intestinal infections;
- Vitamin preparations contain complexes of amino acids, microelements, vitamins B, E, D. As a rule, water-soluble preparations are used. Vitamin complexes are added to the food of individuals of all ages, while selecting certain feeding regimens.
Immunomodulators are considered relatively new, ensuring the resistance of adults to harmful microorganisms. The drugs significantly increase the vitality of young animals.
Soldering scheme at home
The unspoken rule of feeding is that the larger the bird, the greater the dose of vitamins it should receive. However, it is important not to exceed the dosages recommended by supplement manufacturers. To prevent the death of birds and increase survival rate, antibiotics and vitamin preparations are added to the feed according to certain schemes.
Then the birds are given antibiotics for three days. Next week, individuals receive a vitamin complex in combination with probiotics. Next, a three-day course of antibiotics is repeated. In this way, vitamin and medicinal supplements are alternated until turkey poults are raised to two months of age.
Preparations for drinking
In the summer, the birds receive large amounts of green food and vegetable supplements. Vitamin complexes are recommended to be included in the winter diet. Several vitamin sets are most often used:
- “Chiktonik”, containing vitamins K, D, B, carotene, amino acids, is available in liquid form (in liter bottles for private households and 25 liter bottles for large farms). The drinking period is a week (2 ml of the composition is diluted in a liter of water). If turkeys show signs of vitamin deficiency, it is recommended to use the drug for half a month;
- “Tetravit” - in addition to a group of vitamins, contains an anti-cholesterol additive. The product can be added directly to the feed (19 drops per 10 kg of feed mixture). For preventive purposes, it is recommended to drip the drug for 4 months (no more than once a week);
- The Trivitamin vitamin complex, containing vitamins A, E, D, is in demand. The manufacturer produces the drug in liquid form, packaged in 10 or 100 ml bottles. Vitamin liquid is added to the food at the rate of 1 drop per individual.
An excellent option for feeding poultry is fish oil. Veterinarians recommend using fish oil for fortification of both young and adult birds. Thanks to unsaturated polyacids, fish oil helps increase the bird's body's resistance to infections, promotes the absorption of calcium, and reduces cholesterol levels.
Breeding a large number of poultry is considered as a technological process in which the issue of vitaminization is very important. But even raising several turkeys requires a proper diet rich in vitamins and microelements.
