Cabbage Gloria f1 is an ideal hybrid that grows on many types of soils, is not particularly demanding in terms of care, has good disease resistance and pleases with its productivity. It was bred by Dutch breeders. This crop was included in the Russian State Register of Seeds in 2011.
Description of the variety
Characteristics of Gloria cabbage:
- mid-season variety (growth period up to 125 days);
- productive (up to 800 kg of fruit grows per hundred square meters);
- the plant is dense, round in shape, weighs 2–5 kg;
- small stalk;
- the leaves are blue-green in color with a waxy coating and a wavy edge.
This cabbage variety is tolerant to drought and low temperatures. The harvest is harvested from late summer to mid-autumn. This cabbage has good taste.
Growing
Gloria cabbage is sown in the second half of spring. It is desirable that the soil consist of turf soil and compost or humus. You can also add peat, because the main properties of the substrate are breathability and the presence of nutrients. Sow the seeds to a depth of 1 cm and cover with glass or plastic film. A week after sowing, the first shoots appear.
Young plants are kept at temperatures of 14–18 °C during the day and 6–10 °C at night. The daylight hours must be at least 12 hours. Also monitor the sufficiency of moisture. Seedlings dive when they grow 2 true leaves.
Half a month before planting in open ground, cabbage is hardened. To do this, you should take it out into the fresh air, each time increasing its stay time.
Young plants are planted in May after the 15th and until the end of the month. By this time, the seedlings of this vegetable will already have grown from 5 to 7 leaves, and the seedling itself will reach 20 cm. Planting holes should be placed at a distance of 50 cm in rows, and between them - 60 cm. Before planting, fertilizer consisting of from peat, sand, ash and compost. After burying the root system of Gloria cabbage, the soil is watered abundantly.
Vegetable care consists of timely watering and fertilizing, loosening the soil, getting rid of weeds, and hilling. Fertilizer application needs to be considered in more detail. During the growing season, the soil under cabbage is enriched 3–4 times.
They begin to apply fertilizing consisting of urea, potassium salts and superphosphate.Then, at the end of the first summer month, manure (horse or cow) is applied. Dilute the fertilizer in an amount of 10 kg in 50 liters of water. Then the same amount of liquid is given there. The third time they water it with the same composition, just add a little superphosphate. Each time after fertilizing the plants, you need to water them with plain water at the end.
Features of care
When shoots appear, remove the glass immediately to avoid stretching. Temperature should be between 12–14 °C heat. Seedlings grow in containers for 40 to 50 days, and then they are transplanted.
Since the heads of the Gloria variety grow large, the gap between seedlings should be 50 cm. This distance allows the cabbage to develop well, take the optimal amount of nutrition from the soil, and receive abundant sunlight. This vegetable crop ripens 80 days after planting in a permanent place.

Cabbage seeds of the Gloria hybrid are expensive, but this is compensated by the good characteristics of this vegetable crop:

The disadvantage is the high demands of plants on lighting. They must be planted in a sunny area, since the amount of light affects the yield.And of course, the crop needs care: optimal watering, weeding, loosening.
Pests and diseases
Yes, Gloria cabbage is resistant to diseases, in particular Fusarium wilt, but in cool and humid climates it is susceptible to fungal infections such as powdery mildew and gray mold.
For preventive purposes when caring for cabbage, seedlings and garden tools are disinfected. After planting in open ground, the plants are treated with Fitosporin until it is time to set a head of cabbage.
Pests, unfortunately, love Gloria cabbage. These are aphids, caterpillars, chafers and cutworms, but if you plant marigolds, any kind of mint, cilantro or rosemary next to a vegetable bed, then the spicy plants will repel insects.
The next way to protect cabbage beds is to treat the crop with an infusion of onion peels or tomato tops.
Harvest and storage
Harvest the Gloria cabbage crop before the onset of sub-zero night temperatures. If the hybrid is collected on time, it can be stored for up to 5 months. The second prerequisite for cabbage to remain in satisfactory condition for a long time is stable temperature readings. It’s good when the cellar doesn’t freeze or overheat.
You should also avoid high humidity, as it promotes rotting processes.
Since cabbage is a plant with a two-year development cycle, if stored improperly, it can sprout and bloom.
