Recipe and proportions for preparing honey food for bees in the fall

The purpose of feeding bees with honey in the fall is considered to be to prepare insects for a long and cold winter. Adding nutrients will help fill the insects’ bodies with the necessary elements and make their wintering easier. For the procedure to be successful, it is important to adhere to the rules for preparing the composition. Compliance with the timing of nutrient application is also of great importance.

Description

After harvesting at the end of August or in the first half of September, bees need to start preparing for winter. To prevent insects from starving in cold weather, it is recommended to leave some of the honey in the honeycombs.

It is also additionally permissible to use special substances, one of which is honey satiety. Thanks to this, it is possible to solve the following problems:

  • saturate the body of insects with nutrients and vitamins before the arrival of spring;
  • carry out the prevention of pathologies by adding medicines to the feed;
  • stimulate the laying of eggs by the queen and increase the number of bee colonies.

Incentive feeding in the autumn season, which is characterized by unfavorable weather conditions, helps not to stop egg laying. At the same time, old individuals do not die from diseases, and young ones receive a sufficient amount of proteins and vitamins. This allows them to start work in the spring.

Immediately after the first pumping of honey, the bees need to be fed. This helps avoid stopping the honey collection process. By adding nutrients, it is possible to replenish the losses of the taken product, because its deficiency negatively affects the performance of insects.

For his charges, the beekeeper must build up reserves of pollen and beebread every year during the summer. On average, 1 hive requires 2 frames of the substance. Only proper nutrition will help bees survive the winter and lay eggs.

Composition and properties

The normal diet of bees includes pollen and nectar, which they process into bee products. It is permissible to use full honey as a top dressing. It contains exclusively natural substances, vitamins and minerals, which are found directly in nectar and in clean water. They are very important for the normal functioning of insects. Therefore, this product can be safely used to feed bees.

Expert:
Unlike its analogues, honey satiety includes proteins, fats and carbohydrates in the correct proportions. Thus, sugar syrup contains too much sugar and carbohydrates, while the content of vitamins and minerals is limited. Therefore, this substance does not help provide the bees with the necessary substances.

Honey nourishment supports the activity of bees better than analogues. Thanks to this, they are less likely to encounter diseases, easily survive the winter and receive the right amount of vitamins and minerals. In addition, the honey product does not harm the health of individuals, which cannot be said about sugar syrup.

Another advantage of honey satiety is the stimulation of egg laying by the uterus. This is done in the spring. As the weather gets warmer, the bee colony usually shrinks. To ensure that the bees can feed themselves in the following months, additional nutrition should be used. It helps increase the number of insects.

How to cook

The correct ratio of substances in honey is of great importance for the activity of bees. At the same time, the product can be made from liquid or candied honey.

From liquid honey

To make syrup, you need to use the following components:

  • 100-150 grams of linden or other type of honey;
  • 200 milliliters of clean drinking water.

To prepare the fertilizer, it is recommended to do the following:

  1. Pour water into a saucepan and bring it to a boil.
  2. Cool the liquid to +40 degrees and add honey.
  3. Mix the mixture thoroughly so that the beekeeping product is completely dissolved.
  4. Cool the prepared solution to room temperature. Hot liquid will harm insects. Therefore, it can only be used warm.

From candied honey

Sita can also be prepared from candied honey. The proportion recipe looks like this:

  • 80-120 grams of linden or other honey;
  • 200 milliliters of clean water.

To prepare the composition, it is recommended to do the following:

  1. Melt the candied honey in a water bath. At the same time, the beekeeping product must not be overheated.
  2. Add water to the pan and bring to a boil.
  3. Cool the liquid to +40 degrees and mix with the melted bee product.
  4. Cool the resulting mixture to room temperature.

When to give?

You need to start feeding bees taking into account regional characteristics. In the south and the Caucasus, this can be done until October 15th. In northern regions, which have harsh winters, bees can be fed for just a few days in September.

Expert:
The end of the main bribe and pumping out of honey will help determine the timing more accurately. In the temperate zone this usually occurs in August. Feeding is allowed to continue until the first week of September. You should not use nutrients later, since the process of processing the syrup will include insects that have just emerged. The active supply of nutrition to the nest misleads the queen.

Rules of application

To get the desired result, you need to feed the bees correctly. In this case, ceiling feeders with a capacity of 1-3 liters should be used. In the fall, insects should be given 200 grams of food per bee colony.

Bees need to be fed once a day. This is done in the evening, when the insects stop flying. By morning, all food should be eaten. If this does not happen, it is recommended to reduce the norm the next day.

Analogs

The main analogue of honey satiety is sugar syrup. It is used only when honey reserves are completely exhausted. If the substance is used incorrectly, the entire bee family will suffer.

Unscrupulous beekeepers overfeed insects with syrup, replacing their natural nutrition with artificial one. As a result, they experience a deficiency of vitamins and minerals, which leads to illness and death.

Autumn feeding of bees with honey is of great importance for the normal functioning of insects. At the same time, it is important to carry it out correctly, taking into account the basic recommendations of experts.
