Small tobacco seeds are difficult to plant one at a time; seedlings are frequent, and without picking, the sprouts will not develop. When the plants produce 2-3 true leaves, they are transplanted into separate cups and grown before planting in a permanent place.
How long does it take for tobacco to sprout after sowing?
The seeds of the crop are sown from February to April. The period depends on temperature indicators in the region. Tobacco is sown 35-55 days before planting in open ground. Seed germination depends on:
- on ambient temperature;
- quality of seed material;
- amount of light;
- plant varieties.
From planting to the appearance of sprouts, it takes from 5 days to 3 weeks. The seeds are not buried in the soil, leaving them on the surface of the soil; the container with soil is covered with glass or film, creating a greenhouse.
How to pick smoking tobacco
First, prepare containers for seedlings. It is convenient to grow it at home in disposable plastic cups. Holes are made in the bottom of the dish to drain excess moisture.
Important: tobacco has extremely sensitive roots; the soil with the sprouts is watered abundantly to make it easier to remove the plants.
