Today there are a fairly small number of roses that boast the rich black color of their petals. Thanks to its unusual and captivating shade, this hybrid tea variety can decorate any garden.

Description and characteristics of the Black Baccarat variety

Rose Black Baccarat is a large-flowered variety, reaching about 10 centimeters in diameter, cup-shaped, dense and densely double. The petals are pointed and angular, with a dark green color with a tint, glossy. The variety has a small number of thorns, which makes the bush easy to care for. The shrub grows up to 80-100 centimeters. The blooming buds have a regular goblet shape.

According to the description of the Black Baccarat rose, the color of the flowers is dark ruby, the aroma is light and subtle. The variety begins to bloom in July, and until mid-autumn it pleases with its beautiful views.

Black Baccarat rose flowers must be prepared for the cold period before the first frost.Before covering the plant for the winter, you will need to remove all the foliage that is located at the base of the branches. Then each bush is covered with soil with humus, which will warm the root system. Next, a wire frame is made over the bush and covered with several layers of protective material not made of fabric (or quilted padding).

The shelter must be made before the temperature drops below zero. The bottom of the bush should not be completely covered - it can only be fixed in severe frosts.

Diseases and pests of crops

Although the rose is resistant to various diseases, damage to black spot, powdery mildew and rust cannot be ruled out. The risk of disease increases when there is excess soil moisture, for example if the summer was too rainy. To prevent this from happening, it is recommended to treat the bush with copper sulfate or Bordeaux mixture in early spring. Insects can also cause significant damage to the rose: cicadas, green aphids and thrips. Pest control involves the use of insecticides.

Rose propagation

It is worth noting that propagation of this rose variety by dividing the bush is undesirable. This process can only be carried out with five-year-old plants - they need to be divided in half. However, such manipulation will stop the growth of the bush and its flowering.

The best option for the Black Baccarat rose is cuttings, since it does not cause significant damage to the bush. The cuttings are cut 15 centimeters at an angle of 45 degrees, under the bud. The cut part should be placed in moist soil and covered with a plastic bottle or glass container. They can be planted in the garden next spring.

Application in landscape design decoration

Rose Black Baccarat can decorate every corner of the garden.Given its shade-loving nature, it can be planted in places that are not suitable for other plants. The shrub goes well with roses of deep red shades and creates a unique contrast with white roses. Hybrid tea rose is actively used to form spectacular landscape compositions - as single or group plantings.

Another attractive design option is the combination of burgundy roses with low-growing perennials that have pastel shades.

However, if you plant a shrub without admixtures of other flowers, you will be able to admire the unique shade of the Black Baccarat rose. This variety is beneficial for decorating the veranda. Bushes can be planted in containers or pots, but it is not recommended to keep them in the house.
