Instructions for use of the herbicide Galigan, mechanism of action and consumption rates

Galigan is a systemic herbicide, which, according to the instructions, is used to control annual dicotyledons (mainly broadleaf) and some cereal weeds. The selective action drug is used for pre-emergence and post-emergence treatment. Galigan is used when growing onions, garlic, and sunflowers. The herbicide has a dual effect on weeds: contact and soil.

Composition and release form of the weed killer

The herbicide Galigan contains an active substance - oxyfluorfen. The drug is produced in the form of a concentrated emulsion. Manufacturer: Israeli company Adama Rus. The herbicide is sold in 5.10 liter plastic canisters. Before use, the drug is diluted with water in the proportions specified in the instructions.

How does the drug work?

The active substance (oxyfluorfen) penetrates through the leaves and roots into the weeds. This drug requires sunlight to be depressant. The herbicide begins to act within 3-4 hours after spraying: it disrupts the chemical processes in the cells, stops the development and growth of the plant.

The first signs of damage (chlorosis, necrosis) and the action of the herbicide can be noticed on day 3-4. The weeds die completely after 1-2 weeks.

Advantages of the herbicide

Benefits of using the drug Galigan:

  • acts on weeds through contact and creates a soil herbicide screen for long-term protection;
  • does not require restrictions on crop rotation;
  • A one-time ground treatment of the field is required.

Consumption rates for different plants

The herbicide Galigan is used in the following dosages (at a working fluid consumption of 200-300 l/ha):

  1. For onions (except for onions) and garlic: 0.5-1 l/ha.
  2. For sunflower: 0.8-1 l/ha.

How to prepare the working mixture?

A herbicidal solution for spraying a field is prepared from water and the drug Galigan, which is taken in the required quantity. The herbicide is diluted on the day of treatment. The field is sprayed using a tractor sprayer.

Its tank is first filled 1/3 with clean, free water.Then pour in the amount of herbicide measured per tank fill. The mixture is stirred using a stirrer. Finally, add the rest of the water to the tank and mix the solution again. Filling the sprayer and preparing the herbicide mixture is carried out at a special site.

How to properly use Galigan herbicide?

The field is sprayed with the prepared solution if there is no precipitation, wind, and the air temperature is from 8 to 25 degrees Celsius. The herbicide should not be used if the main crop is under stress due to drought, frost, lack of nutrients, disease, or insect damage. Treatment is not carried out in the morning and evening hours, when the plants are wet from dew.

On sunflower crops, Galigan is used before the emergence of the main crop. Plantings of onions and garlic can be sprayed in the early (in the phase of 2-4 leaves) periods of development of these vegetables. The herbicide is used to control weeds that are in the active growth stage (in the phase of 2 to 8 true leaves).

Safety rules for use

Field work on spraying with the Galigan pesticide is recommended to be carried out in a protective suit, mask or respirator, rubber boots and mittens. Persons over 18 years of age who do not have medical contraindications are allowed to process the field. After working with the herbicide, you need to wash your face and hands well with soap and water, and rinse your mouth with a soda solution.

Toxicity of the drug

The herbicide Galigan has hazard classes 2 and 3. The drug is not toxic to humans, animals, birds, fish, and beneficial insects. It is not recommended to irrigate the field during the active summer of bees. The drug is prohibited for use in environmental protection zones.The herbicide, in the dosages indicated in the instructions, does not exhibit phytotoxicity.

Compatibility with other tools

Galigan is compatible with other glyphosate or acetochlor based herbicides. When using several pesticides together, the dosage is reduced. Galigan can be used with insecticides and fungicides for comprehensive field protection.

All chemicals must be tested for physical miscibility before being used together.

How to store the herbicide?

The drug is stored in a warehouse specially designed for pesticides. The warehouse must meet regulatory, sanitary and fire safety requirements. The herbicide itself must be stored undiluted, in tightly closed and undamaged original packaging.

sealed packaging

The optimal storage temperature is +5...+20 degrees Celsius.

The drug must be completely used before the expiration date, that is, within 3 years from the date of manufacture.

Are there any analogues?

The drug Galigan has analogues with a similar composition and principle of action. For example, Goal, Farmer. These are systemic pesticides with selective activity that destroy annual and some cereal weeds on plantings of garlic, onions, and sunflowers.
