Instructions for use of the herbicide Stellar, mechanism of action and consumption rates

The herbicidal agent "Stellar" belongs to the class of highly effective compounds. This water-soluble concentrate controls annual and biennial dicotyledonous weeds that spoil cereal crops. It can also be used to control weeds in corn crops.

Composition, release form and purpose of the drug

The main feature of the Stellar herbicide is the use of a new active ingredient - triketone. It has a systemic effect and penetrates into the plant in various ways. It is absorbed not only by the leaves, as is often the case when using other drugs, but also by the roots, shoots and other parts. The product also contains dicamba, which has been recognized for many years as an active substance for combating broad-leaved plants, as well as topramesone, which expands the capabilities of the first component.

The product is available in a large 10 liter canister. Manufacturer: BASF. Registration at the state level is valid for the herbicide until 2014.

herbicide Stella

Herbicide "Stellar" is used to kill various types of weeds. It copes quite effectively with the following weeds:

  • ragwort;
  • white pigweed;
  • crabgrass;
  • seta;
  • millet, including chicken;
  • field bindweed;
  • field thistle;
  • sunflower carrion;
  • rape.

Effective for both annual and biennial plants.

The principle of action of the herbicide "Stellar"

The principle of the complex action of the herbicide "Stellar" is based on the action of its main components. In particular, dicamba regulates processes occurring in leaves and roots (if there is enough moisture). After the weed enters the body, dicamba begins to move to the phloem and xylem. As a result, it decomposes the synthesis process and suppression occurs. Dicamba also disrupts hormonal balance. As a result of the systemic destructive effect of the drug, the weed cells stop dividing and oxygen is not supplied.

Topramesone works in a different way. It suppresses not individual organisms, but biotypes as a whole. In particular, it is now actively used to destroy weeds that have already developed immunity to herbicides of other groups, for example, those based on acetolactate inhibitors. Topramesone also enters the plant in various ways, but most of all it is absorbed by the young leaves of the plant.

In general, the complex effect of two toxic substances leads to a slowdown in growth or its complete stop after 2 days. But complete destruction of the plant (drying, yellow color) will occur only after 1-2 weeks (depending on weather conditions, including humidity levels).

Advantages over analogues

The herbicide "Stellar" is now most actively used in agriculture and has practically no competitors. This is due to a number of its advantages:

  • excellent selectivity;
  • can only be processed once during the entire period of plant maturation;
  • there are no additional restrictive measures in crop rotation;
  • copes with both young plants and those that have reached maturity;
  • relatively safe for the environment;
  • Available in large convenient containers, easily diluted with water;
  • copes with almost all dicotyledonous weeds;
  • effective in controlling weeds in any climatic conditions.

As can be seen from the list, the Stellar herbicide is really effective. It is this property, combined with a relatively low price and safety, that accounts for its popularity.

Consumption rate

Depending on the maturity of the weeds, one to one and a half liters of undiluted herbicide may be required. And the working solution is used per hectare from 300 to 350 liters.

Preparation of working solution

In order for the composition to show effectiveness and not cause harm to corn and other plants, you must follow the rules for preparing the solution. It is done like this:

  • half the tank is filled with water at room temperature;
  • the stirrer turns on;
  • add herbicide;
  • pour the composition to the end of the tank, without ceasing to stir;
  • After the herbicide is completely dissolved in clean water, an adhesive is added.

Next, you need to vigorously mix the resulting working fluid for at least 3 minutes.

Instructions for use of the finished mixture

For corn, you need to take from 1 to 1.5 liters per hectare of plants. The treatment is carried out against annual and also some biennial plant pests. 2.4 D-resistant weeds and annual cereals are also destroyed after exposure to the herbicide.

Treatment occurs in the initial phase of corn growth - up to the fifth leaf. At the same time, the herbicide is supplemented with a special adhesive “Dash” (no more than five percent of the total volume of the composition will be needed).

Safety rules for use

To protect yourself from harmful fumes, you need to be prepared. Used to protect:

  • robe;
    gloves;
  • mask.

Hazard class for humans - second. The danger class for bees is third. It is not allowed to use the herbicide "Stellar" in the area of water protection zones of reservoirs - it harms some fish.

Toxicity and compatibility

The main difference between Stellar herbicide and hormonal herbicides is that it does not cause toxicity.

There are some restrictions on crop rotation. It is not allowed to sow soybeans, sugar beets or peas in the area affected by herbicides for at least 18 months. There is no phytotoxicity observed in Stellar.

Application of herbicide

How to store it correctly and for how long?

Undiluted and carefully packaged in an airtight container, Stellar herbicide can be stored for several years - it will not lose its properties. But at the same time, the already opened or working solution itself must be used immediately, and the components of the composition must not be allowed to erode.

Unopened canisters should be stored in a cool, dark place. Avoid exposure to direct sunlight.

What analogues are there?

You can replace the herbicide "Stellar" with drugs similar in active substances and spectrum of action:

  • "Bob BT";
  • "Bazagran";
  • "Bazagran M";
  • "Dual Gold"

"Stellar" shows high efficiency. No habituation of plants is observed when used correctly.
