"Caliber" is widely used in agriculture; the herbicide is effective in controlling dicotyledonous weeds. A highly effective drug has been developed based on innovative technologies. Two components in its composition act on the growth points of weeds and suppress cell division. The product works even on fields that are very overgrown with weeds. Crops are treated at any phase of weed development.

Composition, release form of herbicide "Caliber"
The pesticide belongs to the sulfonylurea class. The composition includes thifensulforon-methyl at a concentration of 500 g/kg and tribenuron-methyl 250 g/kg. The product is produced in the form of water-dispersible granules of 0.5 kg in a plastic jar with a measuring cup.
How the product works
The active components of the herbicide begin to act immediately after treatment. They penetrate the leaf blades and move to the growth points. The enzyme acelolactate synthase stops its activity. After 2 hours, cell division in weeds stops. They cannot consume moisture, nutrients and do not interfere with the growth and development of crops. Disturbance in the formation of chlorophyll and photosynthesis and wilting of weeds is observed after 5 days; after 15-20 they die completely. In warm and humid weather the process occurs faster. The herbicide works when the air temperature is +5 0WITH.
Main advantages and disadvantages
Farmers characterize the herbicide as an effective remedy and note its advantages:
- destruction of a wide variety of dicotyledonous weeds growing in grain crops: both winter and spring;
- selective action for grains: wheat, barley, from the beginning of the second phase until the formation of the flag leaf;
- grasses die after 14 days; the product has no effect on wheat or barley;
- works in heavily overgrown areas;
- the timing of treatment may be different: when the weeds have just appeared and if they outgrow;
- low toxicity for bees and humans;
- There are no restrictions on crop rotation - the substance decomposes in the soil in a short time; after harvesting the grain crop in the autumn or spring, it is allowed to sow any crops.
- "Caliber" guarantees a high yield;
- You can spray from the ground or from an airplane.
One of the disadvantages is the high price of the drug - about 15 thousand rubles per 1 kg.
List of processed crops and cost rates
The chemical is effective against annual and perennial weeds:
- ragweed, geranium, warthog, black mustard;
- cornflower, galinsoga 4-rayed and small-flowered, common vetch;
- field bindweed;
- forester, carrion;
- knotweed, nettle, sorrel;
- chickweed, string, springweed;
- clover, lettuce;
- chamomile, violet, resin;
- shiritsa, yasnotka.
For annual species of dicotyledonous weeds that are highly sensitive, in the 2-6 leaf phase, and when sow thistle and thistle are in the rosette stage, 30 g/ha is required.
For bedstraw (whorl), speedwell, violet, ragweed, quinoa, dandelion - 40 g/ha.
If there are many weeds and if they are overgrown (cornflower, bedstraw, bindweed) - 50 g/ha.
Preparation of working solution
“Caliber” is diluted immediately before spraying. The container is filled ½ full with water, the stirrer is turned on, and the required amount of Caliber granules is added. Turn off the mechanism and dissolve Trend 90. It enhances the effect and acts as an adhesive. Then more water is poured. When mixing with other pesticides, dissolve Caliber first, then the compatible agrochemical and then Trend 90. Spray in dry weather without wind.
Instructions for use of herbicide
Processing is carried out using ground or air equipment. It is necessary to adhere to the dosage and spraying rules.
Norm g/ha | Cultures | Weeds | Consumption | Processing Features |
30-50 | Spring and winter crops: wheat, barley
|
Annual, perennial dicotyledons | 200-300 l/ha, when processing from an airplane - 50-100 l/ha | The first stages of weed growth, sowing the 2-3rd leaf before the formation of a tillering node. Also with the addition of “Trend 90” and at the stage of grain exit into the tube (1-2 internodes) |
30-50 (A) | Winter wheat and barley | 200-300 l/ha, with aerial treatment - 50-100 l/ha. | In the spring, when crops are in the tillering stage, weeds are in the initial stage of growth. Also with “Trend 90” and at the stage of stem elongation or crop entry into the tube |
Safety precautions
Before breeding and processing, be sure to wear protective equipment: work suit, gloves, mask. Afterwards, wash clothes, wash exposed parts of the body thoroughly, and rinse your mouth. Persons with disorders of the nervous system, gastrointestinal tract, liver, heart, or respiratory system should not be sprayed with the herbicide.
Degree of toxicity
The herbicide is classified as toxicity class 3. It is of little danger to humans and bees. It cannot be used in the water protection zone.
When should it not be used?
It is prohibited to process:
- if rain is forecast in 3 hours;
- the crops did not dry out from dew and rain.
When crops are stressed due to drought or frost, herbicide should also not be used. The air temperature should warm up to +5 0C. It is necessary to avoid contact of the solution with nearby growing crops. If there is a large accumulation of weeds, take in the maximum volume of liquid.
Drug compatibility
“Caliber” is combined with insecticides and fungicides that are approved for spraying weeds on cereal crops. It is not recommended to mix the drug with organophosphorus agrochemicals.
Storage rules
The prepared solution must be used within 24 hours. The container with the packaged substance must be stored in a dry, cool place where the temperature is not lower than +5 0WITH.
