Pest butterflies of various species often harm agricultural plants. To kill insects, insecticidal preparations are used that act on this group of pests. Let's consider the composition and release form of Lepidocide, the pros and cons of the drug, the mechanism of action and purpose. How to use the product according to the instructions, its compatibility, storage conditions, similar drugs.
Composition and preparative forms of the drug "Lepidocid"
The insecticide is produced by Sibbiopharm LLC in the form of a suspension concentrate, in canisters of 20-50 liters. The active substance is bacteria of the species Bacillus thuringiensis var. Kurstaki, titer no less than 10 billion spores/g. The product belongs to bacterial insecticides and biological products. According to the method of penetration, it is an intestinal pesticide.
Advantages and disadvantages
Like all drugs, Lepidocid has its pros and cons. The advantages are:
- selective action against many species of pests of the Lepidoptera family;
- the active substance does not accumulate in plant tissues and fruits, which is why the products are completely environmentally friendly, non-toxic and safe;
- the drug can be used at any stage of crop development;
- short waiting period, plants can be treated during the fruiting period;
- good compatibility with agrochemicals and biological products;
- can be used on insect populations accustomed to chemical pesticides;
- if used in the correct dosage, it is safe for people, animals, aquatic organisms, fish, entomophages, and bees.
Disadvantages of the product: short shelf life.
Spectrum and mechanism of action

Drug compatibility
"Lepidocide" can be combined with chemicals and biological agents. However, if the mutual reaction of the substances is not known, it is advisable to combine the drugs in a small volume before final mixing to determine their compatibility. If as a result there is a noticeable change in the physical and chemical characteristics of the composition, sediment or flakes appear - the products must not be mixed.
Shelf life and storage conditions
"Lepidotsid" is good for 1 year, then loses its properties. Store the concentrate in factory-made canisters with closed lids. Storage conditions: temperature – from +5 to +30 °C, dark, dry, ventilated room. The prepared solution must be used on the day of preparation; it cannot be stored longer either.
Analogs
For use in agriculture, a preparation with Bacillus thuringiensis var. Kurstaki – “Lepidobactocide”. In private households, it is recommended to use Lepidocid in different formulations: powder and suspension concentrate.
The insecticidal biological preparation "Lepidocid" can be widely used for the safe treatment of many types of agricultural crops. Effective against dozens of species of butterfly pests. With high efficiency, it is completely safe for plants, beneficial insects, animals and people. In terms of effectiveness, it can be compared to a chemical preparation, since only 1 or 2 sprays are required to kill pests.
