Different types of mites can harm agricultural crops, which is why they are destroyed everywhere. Let's look at the instructions for using Omite, its composition and release form, where it is used, and the principle of its operation. What safety measures should be followed when working with the product, what pesticides it is mixed with, how much and how to store it, what acaricides can be replaced.
Chemical composition and release form
The manufacturer of Omaita, UPL LLC, produces the acaricide in the form of an aqueous emulsion with the active substance propargite in an amount of 570 g per liter. It is a contact pesticide based on its penetration method. The emulsion is poured into 1 liter canisters.
Operating principle and scope
The action of "Omite" is contact, destroys ticks in the stages of larvae, nymphs and adults. Does not affect eggs. The greatest efficiency is observed at temperatures above 20 °C. The use of acaricide does not reduce the population of beneficial predatory mites and insects. “Omite” is effective on apple trees, cherries, grapes, citrus fruits, black currants, roses and carnations.
The acaricide "Omite" has an excellent speed of action; it exterminates pests in 2-3 days. The duration of the protective effect lasts 2-3 weeks. The solution is almost not washed off with water when watering and rain. "Omite" shows effectiveness only when the surface of the affected plants is completely treated. Effective when treating against ticks resistant to FOS insecticides. The peculiarity of "Omite" is that it acts not only through contact - pests also die from the evaporation of the solution.
Instructions for use of the drug "Omite"
The effectiveness of the acaricide will be high at temperatures above 25 °C.
Application rate for ticks, in l per hectare and solution consumption according to the instructions:
- apple tree – 1.5-2.2 (1000-1500);
- grapes – 1.2-1.6 (600-1000);
- soybean – 1.3 (200-400);
- cherry – 0.9-1.2 (900-1200).
Omite dosage per 10 liters of water is 10-15 ml.
Soybeans are sprayed once, other crops - 2 times, the second time - after the appearance of a new generation of pests. The waiting period for soybeans is 45 days, apple trees – 50, grapes – 60. You can work on the plots a week after treatment.
Safety precautions during processing
Omite's hazard class for humans is 2nd (moderately toxic). Hazard class for bees 3rd (slightly dangerous). It can poison fish and aquatic life, so it should not be used near water bodies and fish farms. It can be toxic to plants if left on the leaves for a long time, so it is advisable to use it in dry, warm weather so that the plants dry out quickly.
When working with Omite, you need to wear tight, long-sleeved clothing that covers all areas of the skin. Be sure to use rubber gloves and a respirator, and wear goggles to protect your eyes from splashes that may get into them. Protective devices must not be removed while work is in progress. It is forbidden to drink, eat or smoke to prevent the substance from getting inside. After work, you should wash your hands and face.
First aid for poisoning
If the solution somehow gets on the skin, you should immediately rinse it off with water; if it gets into your eyes, rinse with plenty of clean water for about 15 minutes. The drug "Omite" has a strong skin irritant effect.
In case of poisoning, if there are signs of propargite intoxication (breathing problems, drop in pressure, irritation of the eyes and nose), you should drink medicinal charcoal in an average amount of 6-7 tablets and drink 1 liter of water. After 15 minutes, induce vomiting. If this method does not help, and the condition does not improve or continues to worsen, you need to call a doctor.
Insecticide compatibility
The acaricide “Omite” based on the substance propargite cannot be mixed in tank mixtures with drugs that show a pronounced alkaline reaction and oil-containing products.
It is compatible with the others, but to be completely sure, you need to test for possible incompatibility before mixing.To do this, you need to separate a little of both drugs, mix them separately in a container and check the reaction. If there is a change in structure, color, temperature, or the formation of sediment or lumps, the products must not be mixed.
Storage and shelf life
According to the manufacturer, Omite is stored for 3 years from the time of production. Store the drug in the original container with closed lids, in dry, dark rooms, at moderate temperatures. Agricultural products and various fertilizers can be kept next to the acaricide. Do not stack food, feed, livestock and animal feed, and household products.
Do not use expired Omite. The prepared solution is not stored for long; it must be used within a day after preparation. Then it loses its effectiveness.
Analogues of the drug
In terms of active substance, Omite has an analogue - the drug Tagmite, it contains propargite in the same concentration. Its purpose, dosage and mode of action are the same.
Acaricide "Omite" destroys mites on fruit, soybeans and grapes at all stages of pest development, except eggs. Destroys even individuals resistant to organophosphorus drugs. The pest population dies within 2 or 3 days. At the same time, the acaricide does not affect beneficial insects and natural enemies of ticks. Protects crops for 2-3 weeks. For the sustainable effect of the Omite acaricide, thorough treatment of the plant surface is important. In most cases, repeated treatment will be required, since the drug does not affect mite eggs, from which the next generation of pests can emerge.
Among the disadvantages is the long waiting period, which is associated with the relatively pronounced toxicity of the active substance of the product.Therefore, the last spraying of grapes and trees should be carried out 2 months before the start of fruit harvest.
