Acaricides are used on agricultural plants to kill mites on them. Let's consider the method of using the Apollo acaricide, the dosage and consumption of the drug, its composition and release form. How to work with it according to safety precautions, with what agricultural preparations it can be combined, under what conditions and for how long it can be stored, what acaricides can be replaced.
Active substance and formulation
"Apollo" is a selective acaricide of contact action; the manufacturer produces it in the form of a suspension concentrate. The formula of the drug contains the active compound clofentesine in an amount of 500 g per 1 liter. The suspension is poured into canisters of 1 and 5 liters.
How the product works and what it is used for
"Apollo" is intended for the destruction of spider mites and red fruit mites. Processed crops: fruits, grapes, strawberries and hops. The product destroys pests in the early stages of development and eggs, but does not control adult mites. The acaricide does not harm beneficial predatory mites and insects, which may also be present on the plants at the time of treatment. Has a long-lasting effect - within 1 month after treatment.
Instructions for use of the drug "Apollo"
Apple trees, grapes, hops and strawberries can be sprayed during the growing season. Consumption rate for these crops:
- apple tree – 0.4-0.6;
- grapes – 0.24-0.36;
- strawberries – 0.2-0.4.
For hops, consumption depends on plant height:
- 2-3 m – 0.8 l per hectare, per hectare you need to spend 500 l of liquid;
- 4-5 m – 1.6 l per hectare (1000 l);
- 5-6 m – 2.4 l per hectare (1500 l);
- 6-7 m – 3.2 l per hectare (2000 l).
For each hectare of strawberries you need to spend 400 liters of solution, in apple orchards and vineyards - 600-1500 liters per hectare.
The Apollo solution is pink in color and is clearly visible on the leaves. The liquid is not absorbed by the leaves; the drug is most effective when the leaves are evenly distributed and wetted. Leaf surfaces should be completely moistened; on apple trees, the bark should also be sprayed. The solution remains effective only for the day it was prepared.
Grapevines are sprayed in early spring, during the period of swelling of the buds, apple trees - also in early spring, until generations of mites begin to appear, that is, no later than the onset of the green cone stage. Strawberry bushes are sprayed preventively before flowering, hops are also sprayed in the spring, before a new generation of pests appears.
The Apollo plants are treated once; if the treatment is repeated, this can lead to the mites becoming accustomed to clofentesine. To prevent this from happening, acaricide is combined with other agents.
Safety precautions when using insecticide
Apollo, like many pesticides, belongs to agricultural preparations with hazard class 3. It has low toxicity for humans, but despite this, to minimize the possibility of poisoning, you need to work by preparing the solution and spraying the plants wearing protective thick clothing, gloves, goggles and a respirator. Do not take them off while working, do not smoke, eat or drink.
First aid
During work, you need to try to prevent liquid from getting on your skin, face, eyes, or respiratory tract. If this happens, you should rinse your skin, eyes, and throat with clean warm water. Rinse eyes for 15 minutes. If signs of intoxication appear - nausea, weakness, dizziness - you need to drink activated carbon in the amount of 1 g per 10 kg of weight, wash it down with water and after 15 minutes. artificially induce vomiting. If self-help is ineffective, you should immediately consult a doctor.
Compatibility with other tools
"Apollo" can be combined with insecticides, except those that give an alkaline reaction and those that contain copper or sulfur. Can be combined with growth regulators. Despite the good compatibility, each time you mix a new drug and Apollo, you need to check whether there will be an undesirable reaction. To do this, you must first stir a small volume of each product in a common container. If no chemical reaction occurs, they are compatible.
Storage conditions and periods
Apollo acaricide can be stored in warehouses with fertilizers and pesticides for 2 years, starting from the date of production. The warehouse should be dry and dark, temperature from -15 to +25 ˚С is permissible. Medicines, household products and animal feed should not be kept near the acaricide. It is necessary to limit access to the pesticide to children and animals.
After the storage period has expired, the acaricidal agent must be thrown away, as it becomes unsuitable for use. Do not store the prepared solution; it is suitable for use only 1 day after preparation. Unused remains of acaricidal liquid should be poured out in a place that will not be used for growing agricultural plants.
Analogs
The Apollo acaricide has no analogues for clofentesine, but plants can be treated with specific acaricides that have a selective effect on ticks. These are “Flumite”, “Neoron”, “Nissoran”, “Omite”, “Ortus”, “Sunmite”. They contain different substances, have different dosages and solution consumption.
"Apollo" destroys early stages and eggs of mites on apple trees, strawberry beds, grapevines and hops. It has low consumption, so it is used economically. To increase the effectiveness of the acaricide solution, it must be properly applied to the leaves, which should be wet on both sides.Treatments are carried out 1 or 2 times, in the spring, before buds open and before the winter generation of mites hatches.
