Instructions for use of Talstar insecticide, dosage and analogues

Harmful insects and mites often appear on agricultural crops. To destroy them on vegetable and other crops, we have developed preparations based on pyrethroids. Let's consider the instructions for using the Talstar insecticide, composition and release form, mechanism of action and purpose, correct use, consumption rate, dosage for different crops. Is it possible to combine the insecticide with other pesticides, how to store it, are there any substitute products?

Composition and release form of the product

Talstar produces FMS Chemical in the form of an emulsion concentrate in 5 liter canisters. Its active compound is bifenthrin, in an amount of 100 g per 1 liter. The insecticide has intestinal and contact action.

Spectrum and mechanism of action

According to the instructions, “Talstar” is used on tomatoes and cucumbers grown in greenhouses against aphids, spider mites and whiteflies. But the product is also used to treat cotton, grain and fruit crops, grapes against the same pests, as well as thrips, bugs, leaf rollers, codling moths and leaf-eating insects.

Bifenthrin, like all substances from the pyrethroid class, acts on the nervous system of pests. The destructive effect is manifested on insects at all stages of development: eggs, larvae and adults.

Symptoms of poisoning are similar to symptoms of damage by organochlorine preparations: at first the insects are very excited, then paralysis occurs. The substance disrupts metabolic processes in cell membranes. In addition to being insecticidal, bifenthrin has a repellent effect.

Talstar insecticide

Insects and ticks do not become addicted to Talstar, the drug has a long protective effect, is not phytotoxic, and does not poison humans and animals. The product is economically used and is beneficial to use because it has both insecticidal and acaricidal properties.

Application of a highly effective insecto-acaricide

For greenhouse tomatoes and cucumbers, the application rate of Talstar depends on the pest (in l per hectare):

  • greenhouse whitefly – 1.2-2.4;
  • spider mite – 0.6-1.2;
  • aphids – 0.4-0.8.

A single treatment is carried out, 1000-3000 liters per hectare are consumed for all crops. The waiting period for tomatoes is 3 days, for cucumbers – 5 days.

When used on apple trees, cotton and grapes, Talstar also has an effect on mites, so its treatment can reduce the number of other acaricidal sprays.

Spray the crops with the solution prepared before starting work. The death of insects continues for 12 hours. The duration of the protective effect of the drug is 30-40 days.

Safety precautions when working with Talstar

The product has a hazard class for humans - 2, which means moderately hazardous substances. The drug is toxic to bees, hazard class 1. It is prohibited to use the product in gardens during flowering and summer of bees. Talstar cannot be used in areas of reservoirs, fish farms and water sources.

When working with the Talstar solution and preparing it, you need to wear thick protective clothing, wear gloves on your hands, a respirator and goggles on your face to prevent the solution from getting into your eyes and nose. During spraying, you must not smoke, eat or drink, or remove personal protective equipment. After work, you need to wash your face and hands with soap.

If the insecticide solution accidentally gets into your eyes or skin, you need to rinse them with water for 15 minutes. If insecticidal liquid gets into the stomach, it is necessary to rinse it: drink 6-7 tablets of activated carbon and drink 1 liter of water. After 15 minutes, induce vomiting. If the condition does not improve after washing, you should consult a doctor. You can work with sprayed plants 3 days after treatment.

Compatibility with other substances

"Talstar" can be combined with fertilizers, plant growth regulators, fungicides and insecticides that are used in greenhouse conditions. But before mixing, it is recommended to check the compatibility of the drugs separately.

Expert:
If no chemical interaction occurs when mixed in a small volume, then pesticides can be mixed; if there is a change in the color of the liquid, temperature, or precipitation occurs, then they cannot be mixed. You need to either choose another product or process it after a while.

Features of drug storage

"Talstar" insecticide can be stored for 3 years in closed factory canisters. For storage, choose warehouses that contain pesticides and fertilizers. Do not place food, feed, medical or household supplies nearby. Conditions for storing the drug are a dark, dry and ventilated room.

After expiration of the shelf life, you need to replace the drug with a new one and throw away the remainder. The Talstar insecticide solution can be used for only 1 day. Then it becomes ineffective, it is not recommended to use it, so you need to dilute the product in the amount that you plan to use in 1 working day.

Analogues of "Talstar"

Insecticidal preparations with bifenthrin are used in agriculture: “Vulcan”, “Zernospas”, “Imidalit”, “Clipper”, “Pirinex Super”, “Prokrop”, “Semaphore”. Insecticides have similar effects and are used to control similar types of pests.

"Talstar" is an effective insecticide for use in agriculture for treating tomatoes and cucumbers in greenhouse conditions against harmful insects and mites. In addition, it can be used to process cotton, grapes, fruit and grain crops. The application rate of the drug is low, the waiting period is short, which allows you to collect fruits from plants within a few days after spraying. Due to the powerful effect of the drug, 1 treatment is enough to destroy a medium-sized pest population.If they have managed to multiply en masse, repeated spraying is allowed.
