Description of the Nizina grape variety and its characteristics, advantages and disadvantages

Most southern regions are famous for growing Lowland grapes. This variety is heat-loving. Residents of the Middle Zone also manage to grow this plant with juicy fruits and large clusters. The variety was bred by non-professional breeder N.V. Kroen of two types grapes: Kishmish Radiant and Talisman. Residents of Novocherkassk were the first to see the berries of the variety.

Description

Cone-shaped clusters form on the grape bush. When the berries ripen on black soil, they acquire a bright purple hue. Visually, the clusters are massive, their weight often reaches 3 kilograms.Large and heavy berries are densely located, each diameter is 30 by 25 millimeters. On average, a berry weighs 13 grams.

Lowland is characterized by a rich taste, meaty and dense structure. Each grape contains 2-3 seeds. Despite the thickness, the skin cannot be felt when eating the grapes. The variety is superior in sweetness to some types of grapes with similar characteristics.

The composition contains sugar, its amount is 2 times greater than acidity.

The presence of a bright red tone is not considered an indicator of full ripening. After all, the rich color appears earlier than full maturity. Fully ripe fruits become dark purple in color. A detailed description of the variety allows you to make a choice before planting.

Characteristics of the variety

Features include:

  • Lowland is considered a table variety;
  • according to the ripening period, the grapes belong to the mid-late type;
  • is resistant to peas; bisexual flowers bloom in mid-summer when pollinated by bees;
  • the optimal ripening period for berries is 120-130 days, shifts only in the northern region - until September;
  • distinctive feature - the shoots grow quite quickly with the slow development and growth of the vine;
  • the variety adapts to any climatic conditions in which it ripens well;
  • grapes are resistant to transportation and do not lose their presentation during long transportation;
  • The lowland tolerates frost well, plants are covered only in regions with a northern location, in which frost reaches a temperature of -25 degrees;
  • when reaching full maturity, the fruits do not fall off;
  • grapes are resistant to fungal diseases and gray rot.

The variety has a high yield; each bush makes it possible to collect about 6 kilograms of berries.

Advantages and disadvantages of the variety

Nizina grapes have many positive qualities:

  • due to the short ripening period, the variety is grown in different regions;
  • the presence of bisexual flowers - the bush is completely pollinated and consistently bears fruit;
  • shoots grow actively, the vine ripens completely;
  • the clusters have an excellent presentation and high taste characteristics;
  • the wood of the bush is not exposed to frost;
  • the fruits tolerate long-term transportation well to other regions;
  • wasps do not spoil the berries, despite the high sugar content of the fruits.

The disadvantages include some difficulties when growing the plant:

  • need for large space - bushes must be planted at a considerable distance from each other;
  • the bush requires mandatory formation;
  • at elevated air temperatures over a long period of time, the resistance of the shrub to the oidium disease decreases;
  • Depending on taste preferences, some grape lovers consider the presence of seeds in the fruit to be a disadvantage.

Features of planting and care

When planting, you should pay attention to some nuances:

  • The planting area is selected on the south side of the garden;
  • the inflorescences of the plant are sensitive to winds; strong gusts can knock down the flowers and reduce the yield;
  • the soil for growing a bush should be chosen with a large capacity of nutrients, fertilizing is encouraged;
  • you should make sure that there is no groundwater near the vineyard;
  • the optimal distance between bushes in each row reaches 3 meters.

To get a high yield, pruning should be done in the autumn. It is recommended to leave 3-4 eyes or 8-10 eyes. The maximum number of shoots on a bush is 25.

Reproduction

Experienced gardeners distinguish 3 main methods of propagating grapes:

  1. With the help of seedlings, you can preserve the characteristics of the variety.
  2. Those who want to get a harvest next year after planting are recommended to choose grafting, which ensures rapid growth and development of the shrub.
  3. Reproduction using offsets reduces the risk that the seedling may not take root.

Thanks to the Nizina grape variety, you can form a summerhouse or canopy. Proper care will result in juicy, tasty fruits and a cozy corner.
