Herbicides are drugs used over large areas to control weeds. They are able to stop the development of weeds and completely destroy most of them in a short period of time. Select preparations suitable for specific crops. For example, the Meteor herbicide can be used to treat crops of wheat, rye, corn, triticale, barley and oats; treatment in accordance with the instructions for use does not harm the crops.
Composition and release form of the herbicide "Meteor"
The weed control product is available in the form of a suspension emulsion. This allows it to stick after being sprayed onto leaves and other parts of plants. The herbicide consists of 2 components:
- 2,4-D acid 2-ethylhexyl ether - 300 grams liter;
- florasulam - 6.25 grams/liter.
The first component of the mixture penetrates the weed through the leaves, the second one affects the foliage and root system. The presence of two components reduces the likelihood of weeds developing resistance to the herbicide. The manufacturer, Frandessa LLC, is located in the Republic of Belarus.
Available in plastic canisters with a capacity of 1, 5, 10, 20 liters, with a tightly screwed lid. It contains information about the range of uses of the substance, its composition, detailed instructions on how to use the herbicide, precautions and protection measures.
Speed, mechanism and spectrum of action
The herbicide is used against dicotyledonous weeds, suitable for the destruction of chamomile, bedstraw, poppy and other pests on crops of spring and winter wheat, rye, oats, barley, corn, triticale (wheat-rye hybrid). Do not cultivate fields where seed crops are located.
Complete death of weeds occurs 2-3 weeks after treatment of crops, the effect begins within 1 hour after spraying, and becomes noticeable within 3-4 hours. A single application per season is sufficient to protect plants.
The active components of the herbicide affect all parts of the weed. 2,4-D acids, 2-ethylhexyl ester, decomposes proteins, slows down the process of photosynthesis, and provokes the destruction of starch and inulin found in plants.It provokes a disturbance in the water balance and metabolism in the tissues of the weed, without causing harm to the sown crops. Florasulam blocks the production of enzymes necessary for the life of the plant.
The advantages of the herbicide "Meteor" are:
- possibility of use at low temperatures, from +5 °C;
- impact on most dicotyledonous weeds;
- economical use, convenient emulsion form of release;
- Possibility of use in tank mixtures;
- combined use with other drugs.
It is not too expensive and has the ability to treat crops from the appearance of the first leaves of cultivated plants to the booting phase (for corn - until the appearance of 6-7 leaves).
Consumption rate and application
The drug is economical, 0.4-0.6 liters per hectare are consumed. The mixture is prepared before processing; the finished solution is not stored for more than a day. Treatment is not carried out in sunny, dry weather. The herbicide should be sprayed after rain, when it is cloudy outside. The herbicide is recommended to be used at temperatures from +7-8 °C to +25 °C. Do not use it after night frosts to destroy overgrown weeds.
Security measures
Tanks for preparing working solutions are located on special sites, away from agricultural and residential premises, in places inaccessible to children and animals. Before preparing mixtures, you must: wear clothes made of thick fabric with long sleeves. Tuck your hair under a cap or headscarf. Wear safety glasses, rubber gloves, and a respirator.
Compatibility with other drugs
Meteor is used with sulfonylurea derivatives, graminicides, in tank mixtures with Dicamba and other drugs. Compatibility information is available on the packaging and on the manufacturer's official website. In each case, before use, a trial mixing of the necessary components is carried out to assess their physical and chemical compatibility.
How to properly store the product
Herbicides should not be stored near food or feed. After use, close the canister tightly with the lid. Do not allow the container to heat up or expose it to direct sunlight. The product remains effective at temperatures from +5 to +25 °C. Shelf life – 3 years from the date of manufacture.
Analogs
Meteor has no complete analogues for active substances; Gersotil and Granstar Pro have similar effects.
