The use of herbicides is a standard practice in agriculture to protect crops or vegetables from weeds. Let's consider the action of "Stomp" - a systemic selective herbicide, its formula and release form, operating principle and purpose. How to use the product according to the manufacturer’s instructions, safety precautions, what the herbicide can be combined with, how it should be stored and for how long, what to replace it with.
Composition and dosage form
The herbicide is produced by the German company BASF.“Stomp” is a soil herbicide that can be used to destroy many weeds of 1-year-old, 2-lobed and cereal species. Does not affect perennial or mature weeds. The active substance is pendimethalin in the amount of 330 g per 1 liter. Release form: concentrated emulsion. Packaging – 1 l and 10 and 20 l.
Principle of operation
"Stomp" is a soil pre-emergence herbicide. It is used after sowing, before emergence and after seedlings. Pendimethalin from solution is absorbed by the roots and shoots of weeds. Weeds die as soon as they germinate, and plants with 1-2 leaves also die. Herbicidal protection lasts 3-6 weeks.
Spectrum of action
Vegetables (tomato and cabbage at the seedling stage, potatoes), root vegetables (carrots), legumes (peas and soybeans), garlic, sunflower, corn, parsley are treated with the Stomp herbicide.
Application of herbicide "Stomp"
Apply the herbicide in the morning, in dry weather, when there is no wind. Such conditions increase the processing efficiency. The effectiveness of the drug is influenced by the level of mechanical tillage of the soil, its composition and weather conditions. The consumption of the solution depends on the combination of these factors. In areas with fertile soil, in hot and dry weather, you need to use the maximum volume of the drug recommended by the instructions.
Application rate (in liters per hectare) for potatoes – 5 liters, for other crops – 3-6 liters, for root parsley and onions – 2.5-4.5 liters. For 1 hectare you need to spend 200-300 liters, the treatment is one-time, the waiting period for vegetables is 2 months.
Do not spray the product by air, or use it in private household plots or around ponds with fish. "Stomp" is not phytotoxic if used in the doses recommended by the instructions. Pendimethalin almost completely decomposes in the soil by autumn and does not have a negative effect on crops planted in the next season.
Safety precautions
"Stomp" refers to pesticides with class 3 hazard for humans and bees. Precautionary measures: work with the herbicide in protective clothing, wear gloves on your hands, and also wear a respirator and goggles. Do not remove protective equipment while work continues.
After washing your hands and face with soap and water, if the solution gets on your skin or eyes, rinse them with warm water until the irritation disappears.
What is compatible with
Herbicide "Stomp" can be combined with soil herbicides that are used on the same types of agricultural crops, except those that have an alkaline reaction. But it is still recommended to first check the compatibility of the drugs, and then mix the entire volume.
How to store it correctly
Store in sealed packaging at temperatures from 0 °C to 35 °C. Store in a dry, cool warehouse. Period during which the drug is suitable for use: 5 years from the date of manufacture. After it is completed, the product loses its effectiveness to a large extent. The prepared solution can be stored for 1 day.
Analogues of the drug
For use in agriculture with pendimethalin, the following products are produced: “Wing-P”, “Gaitan”, “Cobra”, “Penitran”, “Stomp Professional”, “Fist”, “Estamp”.This herbicide is not used on private farms.
“Stomp” is a selective herbicide for the destruction of many types of weeds in areas with vegetables, root crops, potatoes, corn and legumes, garlic, and sunflowers. The treatment is carried out once, before germination of seedlings or on young weeds. The herbicide completely destroys them; a second spraying is not required. But in order for the drug to show the best effectiveness, it must be used under optimal weather and soil conditions.
