“Boverin” is a microbiological substance that has insecticidal properties. The drug is made from an entomopathogenic fungus called Beauveria bassiana. The composition helps protect agricultural plants, flowers and ornamental crops from fungus gnat larvae, thrips, and mole crickets. The drug also successfully copes with other pests.
Active substance and dosage form
The active component of the product is considered to be spores of the entomopathogenic fungi Beauveria bassiana, which belong to the genus Beauveria. Their titer is at least 2 × 108 colony-forming units per milliliter. The product is released in liquid form. Packages with a capacity of 5 or 20 liters are available for sale.
Mechanism of action of the product
When the fungal conidiospores come into contact with the body of an insect, they germinate and enter the body structure. Under the influence of their enzymes, the cuticle dissolves, producing toxic substances. This causes the death of parasites.
The main advantages of the product include the following:
- harmless to people, fish, bees, pets;
- no risk of environmental pollution;
- lack of regulations for use;
- no impact on the taste of the crop;
- positive impact on the quality parameters of products.

The product helps protect potatoes, vegetables, and ornamental plants. It can also be used to treat fruit and berry plants. The composition can be used in closed or open ground.
The drug successfully copes with thrips, codling moths, and whiteflies. The substance can also be used to combat bedbugs, ticks, and Colorado potato beetle larvae.
In order for the product to give the desired results, it is important to use it in suitable conditions. In this case, the relative humidity should be 80-100%, and the temperature should be +24-26 degrees.
Instructions for use of "Boverin"
The amount of product must be calculated depending on the number of parasites.It is 3-9 liters per 1 hectare. In this case, the consumption of working fluid can be 0.5 liters per 1 square meter or 1500-2000 liters per 1 hectare. This dosage is used at a solution concentration of 0.5-1%.
It is necessary to spray vegetative plants systematically. This should be done at intervals of 1-2 weeks. In this case, it is recommended to apply one half of the substance to plants, and the second to the soil. Entomopathogenic fungi develop best at temperatures of +24-26 degrees. In this case, the humidity parameters should be 80-100%. 1 month after processing the crops, the biological efficiency reaches 75-82%.
To increase the effectiveness of the substance, it is recommended to take 1 sachet and mix with 1-2 large spoons of sunflower oil. The components should be thoroughly mixed and the composition should be placed in the holes 2-10 centimeters deep. The substance is also placed between the rows of plants. In this case, it is permissible to use 200 grams per 1 hundred square meters.
When carrying out planting work, the composition must be placed around the perimeter of the hole and into the recess itself under the root. After completing the procedure, you must wash your hands thoroughly.
In general, the dosage of the product depends on the pests and crops that are planned to be treated. The consumption rates of the substance are given in the table:
Culture | Pests | Costs of the drug, liters per 1 hectare | Consumption rate of working fluid, liters |
Cereals – barley and wheat | Wheat thrips, cereal aphid | 4-6 | 200-300 |
Potato | Colorado potato beetle - the composition helps to cope with larvae of 1-2 instars | 3-4 | 200-500 |
Pulses – peas | Pea weevil | 5-6 | 200-300 |
Vegetable crops grown indoors | Thrips, whitefly | 6-9 | 400-800 |
Fruit and berry plants | Aphids, codling moth | 5-7 | 800-1000 |
To achieve maximum results, it is recommended to combine Boverin with other drugs. The most effective combination is obtained with the participation of the insecto-acaricide “Coloradocid”. In this case, the dosage per 1 hectare can be reduced by 1.5-2 times.
