Calcium borogluconate for goats, cows and other animals is intended for the treatment of rickets, metabolic disorders, allergies, inflammation, intoxication, and decreased contractility of the heart. One of the most important areas is the treatment of paresis in cows after calving. The medicine allows for a comprehensive effect on the disease, while having a minimal number of side effects and contraindications.
Description of the drug
The medicine is a viscous transparent (or straw-colored) liquid for injection.The dosage in which calcium borogluconate is produced can be different and ranges from 100 to 500 milliliters. The packaging is presented in a darkened glass bottle, which is hermetically sealed with a rubber stopper and an aluminum cap. Inside, along with the drug, there is an instruction manual containing information about dosages, order of use, and indications. Each bottle must contain information about the manufacturer and expiration date of the medicine.
Alternative names for the drug are boric acid, sodium tetraborate, calcium gluconate.
The drug includes the following components:
- Calcium gluconate (main substance). Relieves swelling, stops bleeding, replenishes calcium deficiency in the body, and has a sedative effect.
- Boric acid. Has an antiseptic effect. It is used to treat wounds and other skin lesions and eliminate inflammation. In this case, the substance does not provoke irritation of mucous surfaces.
- Sodium tetraborate. Has an antibacterial effect.
- Water.
The use of the drug in dosages that comply with veterinary recommendations does not lead to such consequences as:
- intoxication;
- local irritations;
- hepatogenic effect;
- failure in embryo development.

Calcium borogluconate is prescribed in the following cases:

Instructions for using calcium borogluconate for goats
Before injecting the drug, it must be warmed to 35-36 degrees. Methods of using injections:
- intravenously (liquid is introduced gradually);
- subcutaneously (it is advisable to divide the dosage into parts and inject the medicine into different places);
- intramuscularly (not recommended, as it provokes allergies).
Manipulations are performed once. If necessary, the drug is re-administered the next day in the same amount. A missed dose cannot be compensated with a double dose - it is enough to resume therapy as soon as possible.
The application procedure is the same for all animals:
- The dose is calculated according to the rule: 0.5 milliliters per kilogram of weight. The maximum dosage for goats is 50-100 milliliters.
- Warming the injection liquid to 37 degrees.
- Administration of the drug intravenously or subcutaneously.
The dosage and frequency of use in each case are determined individually and depend on the type of disease and its stage.
Contraindications and side effects
Usually, if all rules and recommendations are followed, no negative consequences are observed. An exception is individual intolerance to the substances that make up the medicine. Very rarely, the following side effects occur after using the medicine:
- allergy;
- skin rashes;
- digestive problems (loose stools, nausea, vomiting).
Contraindications include:
- hypercalcemia;
- individual intolerance;
- diarrhea;
- increased blood clotting;
- dehydration;
- kidney dysfunction;
- weakened state of the body after illness or surgery.

The medication is stored in a dark, dry place at a temperature of 5-25 degrees. The hermetically packaged drug should be kept as far as possible from food. The shelf life from the date of production is two years, and after the start of use – 48 hours. The medicine packaging is disposed of.
