Dosage and instructions for use of Ivermek for sheep, when to prick

Sheep, especially those that are grazed outside, are susceptible to a wide variety of parasites. The Russian company "NITA-PHARM" has released the drug "Ivermek" for veterinary use, the correct dosage of which for sheep will protect them preventively or successfully treat them even with severe forms of damage by insects and roundworms.

Composition and release form of the drug

"Ivermek" is available in the form of an injection solution. Packaged in glass containers:

  • ampoules 1 ml, 50 pcs. in a package with instructions;
  • bottles up to 250 ml;
  • 500 ml bottles.

Main components: ivermectin – 10 mg and vitamin E (tocopherol acetate) – 40 mg. Additional components of the water-dispersed mixture:

  • diethylene glycol monoethyl ether;
  • benzyl alcohol;
  • polyoxyethylated-35-castor oil;
  • water.

Vials with the medicinal mixture are sealed with rubber stoppers and fixed aluminum caps.

In what cases is it used?

Ivermectin is used in veterinary medicine when livestock is infected with nematodes (worms) or arthropod insects. It destroys pests that are in the larval or mature stages of development. Sheep are treated against helminths with injections of the drug in the fall, after stopping grazing on fresh grass, and in the spring, when the first vegetation appears. Parasite eggs do not die in either frost or heat. They remain on pastures for many years outside the animal's body. Immediately after the end of the flight of gadflies, ivermectin is used against their larvae. Based on the symptoms, they determine whether it is necessary to treat for ticks. The harmful effect of the drug against parasites lasts 10-14 days.

Expert:
If an animal is highly sensitive to Ivermek, it is treated with antiallergic medications and remedies for specific symptoms.

Are there any contraindications?

Patients with infectious diseases and malnourished rams and sheep should not be administered Ivermek. They need to be isolated from the rest of the herd until they get stronger. It is forbidden to inject the drug into animals that have previously been identified as individual intolerant to it.
