Growing and care

The tomato variety Sugar pink was included in the State Register of the Russian Federation in 2010 for cultivation under film covers and in open ground. Agricultural technology:

dense and smooth

  • Seeds are sown for seedlings in March. Seeds are planted 1.5–2 cm deep in pre-prepared and moistened soil and sprinkled with earth or peat on top.
  • The container is covered with film and placed in a warm place for germination.
  • After the first “knees” hatch, the film is removed and the container is transferred to the windowsill. It is important that the room temperature is +20–22 degrees.
  • When the sprouts acquire the first pair of true leaves, the seedlings are planted and the first feeding is carried out.
  • When the shoots become stronger, they begin to harden them and prepare them for the upcoming planting. To do this, containers with future tomatoes are taken out into the fresh air every day. The hardening course begins with a few minutes, gradually increasing the time of “walks”.
  • Planting in greenhouses begins in mid-April, under film covers in early May, in open ground no earlier than the beginning of June. It is important to plant seedlings before flowering. If the bush has overgrown and bloomed, the brush with flowers should be removed to prevent premature termination.
  • After planting, the plants require standard care: regular loosening, weeding and hilling. It is recommended to water at the root, rarely but abundantly.
  • Although the growth of the bushes is limited, they still need additional support. Tomatoes should be tied under the first bunch.
  • During the season, from 4 to 6 fertilizing with complex mineral fertilizers is carried out.
  • It is more profitable to form bushes into 2-3 stems, leaving a reserve stepson in case of early completion of the central stem. This will allow the growing process to continue.

Reviews from experienced gardeners say that “Pink Sugar” is not intended for long-term storage, and it is better to pick tomatoes from the bush when they are green. This way they will not crack or be damaged during transportation. They ripen well in any warm and dry place.

Zinaida, Kursk:

“After studying the description of the variety, I decided to plant pink sugar. The variety is productive, bears fruit for a long time, and does not suffer from any disease. The main thing is to remove the tomatoes from the bush in time, otherwise they will burst.”
