Description of the tomato variety Sugar Mouth, its characteristics and yield

The Mars agricultural company presented a new tomato, Sugar Mouth, from the Ural Summer Resident series. The variety is zoned for Siberia and the Urals, so it was successfully tested in the central zone of our country and has already found its first fans. The manufacturer gives the following description of the tomato:

  • early ripening;
  • semi-determinate (120–150 cm);
  • high-yielding;
  • unpretentious to weather conditions;
  • universal (suitable for protected and open ground);
  • fruits are round, small (80–100 g);
  • the taste is pleasant, sweetish;
  • Suitable for fresh consumption and canning.

Growing

The Sugar Mouth tomato variety has proven to be productive and tolerant of cool weather. 105–110 days after the first shoots, the tomatoes begin to bear fruit. The tomatoes are bright red in color, convenient for pickling in jars of a size.

Seedling

Seeds of this variety are sown in late March or early April. The soil mixture is selected to be nutritious. You can buy a ready-made universal one or specifically for tomato seedlings. When making the mixture yourself, much attention is paid to organic components. They improve the characteristics of garden soil by adding peat, humus, compost, scalded sawdust and sand.

You can carry out pre-sowing preparation of seeds. To do this, the seed is soaked for 12 hours in the solution:

  • sodium humate (0.01% solution);
  • succinic acid (0.004% solution);
  • wood ash (1 teaspoon per 1 liter of water).

Sugar mouth tomatoes

Sugar mouth tomato seeds are planted at a depth of 1 cm. After 2–3 weeks, the sprouts should produce 1–2 true leaves. Such tomatoes can already be planted in separate 1.5–2 liter pots with large drainage holes. Each sprout is buried a little to strengthen the root system.

After two weeks, it is useful to feed the Sugar Mouth tomatoes with a humate solution or complex mineral fertilizer. If the size of the pot allows, you can add soil on day 35–40 to form additional lateral roots.

Tomatoes begin to be prepared 2–3 weeks before the planned planting in the ground. To do this, in good weather, pots with plants are taken out into the fresh air, shading them from the sun's rays for the first time. This hardening will prevent excessive stretching of seedlings and will help them adapt more easily when planting in open ground.

Care

At the age of 60–65 days, tomato seedlings can be “relocated” to a permanent location. In the central zone, transplantation is carried out in protected soil in May, and in open soil in early June. The day before planting, the bottom 2-3 leaves are removed. The seedlings are buried in the soil for root growth. It is useful to mulch the soil under the bushes with loose material, such as peat or sawdust.

The bush of this variety grows up to 1.5 m in height and requires tying to a support. According to reviews, it is better to form Sugar Mouth tomatoes into 2–3 stems, removing excess shoots. When the first flower clusters appear, it is useful to treat the plants with the “Bud” preparation. 10–15 days after transplantation and then every two weeks, the plants are fed with a humate solution or any complex fertilizer for tomatoes.

tomato in the ground

Tomatoes do not tolerate excess moisture in the soil, especially in cool weather. Therefore, water the plants only after the top layer of soil has dried by 15–20 cm.

Harvest

The Sugar Plum harvest ripens quickly, delighting vegetable growers with beautiful, even, red tomatoes. Within a month, the bushes lose 70–80% of their fruits. When pouring tomatoes, watering is increased, but not in excess.

The “sugar content” of fruits may decrease with excessive soil moisture. There are few seed chambers in tomatoes, usually up to 4, the flesh has a rich-sweet taste, especially if there are sunny days during ripening.

Reviews

Tried Sugar Mouth for the first time last year. I planted one small bed and was pleasantly surprised. The bushes were strewn with tomatoes to the very top. Basically everyone went for a twist, the size was just right. Next season I plan to plant more.

Alexey, Tver

I have long been looking for a sweet, productive variety for canning tomato juice.Last season I discovered Sugar Mouth tomatoes. The bushes grew quite tall, and there were a lot of tomatoes, despite the rainy summer. The juice turned out very tasty and sweet. I will continue to plant this variety.
