Tomato Lionheart F1 is a godsend for gardeners. The hybrid gives early juicy fruits. It can be grown in open ground, under film and in unheated greenhouses. It's worth finding a place and planting a few bushes!
Why is hybrid attractive?
Breeders create hybrids to capture certain properties. Lion's heart gives good yield and excellent taste.
Description of the plant:
- early ripening period (from pipping to fruit harvest < 105 days);
- indeterminate hybrid;
- in a greenhouse the height of the bush is 1 m, in open ground it stretches up to 1.5 m;
- leaf blades are medium, color is bright green;
- the first brush is tied after the 8th leaf;
- each cluster contains up to 8 berries;
- yield outside is 3.5 kg/m², in a greenhouse - 17 kg/m²;
- The hybrid is resistant to TMV and verticillium.
Lionheart is designed to be eaten fresh. Tomatoes are tasty in salads and original when sliced. Some gardeners actively process substandard fruits into sauces and pastes.
The yield and technical data were assessed by experts. The hybrid is included in the State Register of the Russian Federation under RF number 9811420. It has proven itself excellent in private gardens and private household plots.
How is Lionheart different?
Lionheart tomatoes belong to the family Bull's hearts. They are large and juicy. Productivity is achieved through the size, not the number of fruits.
Characteristics of tomatoes:
- reach a mass of 200 g;
- heart-shaped, spout at the bottom;
- a ripe tomato is bright red;
- smooth to the touch, without ribbing;
- 4-6 chambers with seeds;
- fleshy juicy pulp;
- tomatoes have a sweet and sour taste;
- not rough skin.
Gardeners willingly supplement their personal collections with the Lionheart tomato. They appreciate the taste and technical qualities of the hybrid.
How to achieve the desired result
Growing tomatoes does not cause much trouble. But to get tasty tomatoes, you should follow the recommendations of breeders:
- sow for seedlings from March 10 to 20;
- germinate at a temperature of 23-25 degrees;
- the loops should be placed in a lighted place;
- provide a temperature of 18 degrees;
- be sure to increase daylight hours;
- after a week, dispense into special containers;
- spraying seedlings with growth stimulants will strengthen it;
- It is recommended to apply mineral fertilizers (according to the manufacturer’s instructions) along with watering;
- regularly harden and ventilate;
- water after the soil dries;
- place on beds filled with organic matter in the fall;
- in the spring, enrich the soil with complete fertilizer (nitrogen, potassium, phosphorus);
- plants are ready for placement when 6 true leaves grow;
- the distance should be maintained: 40 cm x 60 cm;
- It is optimal to mulch the soil (to retain moisture and facilitate maintenance);
- lion requires guidance of 1-2 stems;
- it is advisable to plant bushes;
- The stems are brittle: a garter is required.
To obtain a harvest of large fruits, the plant should be provided with sufficient light. In the shade, the tomatoes will become more sour and smaller.
Some gardeners consider the formation of the Lionheart unnecessary. The hybrid does not produce more than 2 stems in the greenhouse. Berries grow up to 500 g.
Views of summer residents
Reviews from gardeners are mixed. The following received a positive rating: taste, fruit size; disease resistance, ease of growing a hybrid.
"Minus" was given for:
- Tomato ripening later than indicated on the label;
- smaller size of tomatoes in open ground;
- low transportability;
- shelf life less than 2 weeks.
Gardeners recommend planting Lion's Heart in greenhouses: the yield is 3 times higher. In cool summers, the hybrid suffers from late blight.
The advantages of tomatoes are taste and size: for the sake of them, summer residents are ready to put up with the shortcomings.
