Heart-shaped tomatoes are traditionally popular among summer residents because they have a rich taste, pleasant shape and, as a rule, large sizes. For many years, the Bull's Heart variety remained the champion among them, but selection does not stand still, and new hybrids with improved characteristics regularly appear. These include the Loving Heart Red and Red Oil Heart tomatoes.
Loving heart
The description of the tomato variety Loving Heart characterizes it as a large, powerful plant that produces large, fleshy fruits weighing up to a kilogram. There is a high yield per bush - up to five clusters of 5-7 fruits each.
The taste of the fruit is delicate and pleasant, slightly sour, with noticeable sweetness; the tomato, thanks to its characteristic aroma, gives dishes a richer taste. The walls are quite thick and soft, granular, the peel is thin. Tomatoes are well suited for use in salads, for winter preparations, and for squeezing juice.
The variety was bred by Ural breeders, therefore it is ideally adapted to the climatic conditions of the Middle Urals. Agricultural technology involves sowing seeds in mid-spring (March-April) to a depth of a centimeter. After a pair of true leaves appear, it is recommended to pick them, and harden them a week before planting in the ground.
Planting in the ground is carried out in June, when spring frosts have passed, at a distance of approximately 30 centimeters between the bushes. The plant should have already formed enough normal leaves and started flowering. Tomatoes of the Loving Heart red variety can be planted in the greenhouse as early as April-May.
Watering is carried out as the plant dries out with warm water; regular fluffing improves the supply of oxygen to the roots and, accordingly, the yield. During the entire growing season, it is advisable to add fertilizer for good fruiting. The largest volume of fruit can be harvested if you leave two stems on the plant.
Butter heart
The tomato variety Red Oil Heart is mid-season and high-yielding. Bred for cultivation in the middle zone and is maximally adapted to its climatic features.
The plant is tall, up to two meters, forms several clusters of 4-5 fruits per cluster, which ripen gradually. The tomato is heart-shaped, densely filled with granular pulp with a small number of seeds. The weight of the fruit ranges from 300 to 700 grams. With proper care, the yield is more than five kilograms per bush.
The fruits can be used in salads and hot dishes, for canning and making juice. The juicy pulp has a pleasant sweetish taste and characteristic aroma.
The agricultural technology of the Red Oil Heart variety is similar to the Loving Heart variety and involves sowing seeds for seedlings in March, followed by planting already formed plants with flowering tassels in the ground. The planting density is about three plants per square meter. For feeding, traditional means are used, which are used throughout the growing season.

Marina V., Chelyabinsk:
“I traditionally plant Bull’s Heart tomatoes, but this year I read the description of the new variety Red Butter Heart and decided to try it. I sowed a few seeds and then planted the seedlings in a separate bed. I was quite pleased with the result: the fruits grew large, and I collected about 4 kilograms of tomatoes from one bush. The taste of tomatoes is pleasant, juicy and sweet; the whole family enjoys eating them in their pure form without any additives. I think I’ll plant more bushes next year.”
Andrey V., Troitsk:
“The conditions of the Southern Urals are not very suitable for gardening, and many heat-loving plants simply do not have time to produce enough fruit in a short period of warm summer days. I always use only local, Ural or Siberian varieties, which are more resistant to frost and drought and have a shorter growing season.
I liked the new tomato variety Loving Heart due to its combination of high yield and adaptability to local conditions. From two beds we managed to collect more than 40 kilograms of tomatoes, which were successfully processed and stored for the winter. In my opinion, this is one of the most successful varieties, excellent for growing in the Ural conditions.”
Svetlana D., Kamensk-Uralsky:
“I tried to plant the Red Butter Heart variety a couple of years ago and immediately upgraded it to the category of my favorite. The plant produces a bountiful harvest with a large number of large and beautiful fruits. Of course, in order for all the flowers to form an ovary and bear fruit, you need to try and create the most favorable conditions, but the result is worth it. The juicy, tasty pulp of tomatoes is so pleasantly different from the plastic store-bought varieties. My grandchildren eat this variety with pleasure, picking tomatoes straight from the bush. And I really like tomatoes in salads; with the addition of a small amount of cucumbers, pepper and vegetable oil, it’s simply impossible to tear yourself away. Now every year I buy seeds and plant the Red Butter Heart variety for future salads and autumn preparations.”
