How to grow such flowers, and what their advantage is over other varieties, we will look into below.

Blushing

It is considered a subspecies of Golden Apeldoorn and differs from it only in the color of the petals, which have a red edge around the edges. The edging is not even, and it seems as if some artist took a red pencil and painted the plant. Flowering occurs in mid-May, early June. The disadvantages include the strong opening of the bud in sunny weather, but some gardeners find this quite attractive.

Landing nuances

Despite the fact that tulips are unpretentious plants, when growing you should adhere to certain rules in order to obtain a stable harvest:

  1. Choose the right place to plant.
  2. Bulbs intended for sowing should be properly prepared.
  3. Know the intricacies of planting bulbs in the ground.

If all the steps are performed correctly, the harvest will not disappoint you, sparkling in the flowerbed with rich, warm tones, giving you and those around you a positive mood.

Selection and preparation of a site

When choosing a site for a flower bed, be guided by the following criteria:

  • the place should not be exposed to much wind;
  • well lit from all sides;
  • the area should not contain uneven areas in which excess moisture will accumulate.

Note! If the soil is too wet, the bulbs will rot and die.

The plant has no special preferences in terms of soil, but, if possible, choose areas with sandy and loamy compositions. They have a loose structure, quickly absorbing moisture.

Preparing bulbs for planting

Prepare the bulbs for planting as follows:

  • We separate the daughter shoot from the main, mother bulb;
  • we clear it of soil and give it time to dry;
  • as soon as the bulb has dried, we send it for 30 days to a place where the temperature does not exceed 20 O;
  • then lower the storage temperature to 12 O. By the time of planting, they will not deteriorate and will produce good offspring.

How to plant an Apeldoorn tulip

For planting, a hole no more than 15 centimeters deep is dug in the ground. The distance between the holes should not be less than 10 centimeters. One onion is lowered into each hole, after which they are covered with a layer of earth and watered.

If the winters in your region of residence are cold, mulch the soil above the flowerbed, providing it with additional protection from frost.

Features of care

The tulip is an unpretentious plant and, apart from abundant watering, does not require anything from the gardener. However, do not overdo it, otherwise the bulbs will rot. Weeding and loosening the soil will be the key to abundant and powerful flowering. There are no special preferences for fertilizers, and a flower bed requires standard procedures that maintain the correct nutritional composition of the soil.

Preparing for winter

The plant tolerates winters well, but it is advisable to cover the young shoots with spruce branches and mulch the soil with peat. This will help the fragile plant survive severe frosts.

Diseases and pests

Among the diseases that tulips are susceptible to are:

  • chlorosis - manifests itself due to a lack of boron, zinc or molybdenum;
  • lack of magnesium causes leaf tips to dry out;
  • when the leaves turn yellow, the plant lacks iron.

Otherwise, the variety is resistant to pests and has strong immunity.
