Regardless of the type of care, poultry often develop bacterial diseases. In such cases, antibiotics are prescribed. Among the existing drugs of this type, Enroflon for ducklings stands out, the instructions for use of which indicate that the drug has a wide spectrum of action. In this regard, this remedy can be used when the exact cause of the disease has not been established.
Release form and composition of the drug
Enroflon is available in the form of a powder or a ready-to-use solution.The drug contains the antibiotic of the same name and additional preservatives, which ensure the safety of the product for a long time. "Enroflon" has a wide spectrum of action. This drug destroys bacterial DNA and suppresses the growth and development of pathogenic microflora in the body of an infected bird.
This product is available in different concentrations and volumes. This was done because the drug is effective against bacterial diseases that affect various animals, including cattle. Enroflon contains no more than 5% or 10% of the active substance. When treating infected birds, medication in the form of injections is not used.
In what cases is the product used?
An antibacterial drug is prescribed for infection:
- salmonella;
- clostridia;
- hemophilus influenzae and Escherichia coli;
- campylobacter;
- mycoplasma;
- staphylococcus;
- bordetella.
Before being examined by a veterinarian and making an accurate diagnosis, an infected bird can be treated with Enroflon if the ducklings exhibit the following symptoms:
- a sharp decrease in body weight;
- lack of appetite;
- lethargy;
- loose stools;
- purulent discharge from the eyes and beak.
Enroflon is sometimes prescribed for viral diseases. In this case, the drug is used to prevent the addition of a bacterial infection. However, this medicine is ineffective against viral pathologies. On the contrary, treatment with antibiotics for such diseases suppresses the immune system, as a result of which the bird may die.
Instructions for use of "Enroflon" for ducklings
The effectiveness of an antibacterial drug directly depends on how accurately the dosage is selected. The amount of medicine given is determined taking into account the nature of the infection, the type and age of the bird.
When treating ducklings, it is recommended to dilute 0.5 milliliters of the drug in one liter of water. The resulting solution should be mixed with water or food and given once a day for 3-5 days. If necessary, the dosage of the medicine can be doubled. This is recommended for salmonellosis.
Are there any contraindications?
Ducklings, unlike other poultry, are distinguished by strong immunity and the ability to well tolerate the effects of various medications. However, in some cases, side effects are possible after taking an antibacterial drug.
"Enroflon" is not recommended for congenital pathologies of the kidneys and liver. Also, this drug should not be given to ducklings if side effects occur. After taking the medicine, you should reduce the time the bird spends in the sun. Exposure to ultraviolet radiation reduces the effectiveness of the drug.
Enroflon should not be given simultaneously with bacteriostatic medications (Tetracycline, Levomycetin and Macrolide). This medicine should not be combined with steroids, theophyllines and anticoagulants. It is not recommended to give the medication together with vitamin complexes that contain magnesium, calcium and aluminum. The latter should be fed to the bird 1-2 before or 4 after taking the antibiotic.
Side effects
Enroflon rarely causes side effects. In addition to the consequences caused by taking the medicine in the presence of pathologies of internal organs, an allergic reaction is possible.But in ducklings, such complications are practically not observed.
How to store?
It is recommended to store the medication in a dark and dry room at an air temperature of +5-25 degrees. The antibiotic should be kept out of the reach of children and animals. Subject to these conditions, the shelf life of the product is 5 years from the date of manufacture.

If poultry is allergic to Enroflon, then Enroxil 10%, Enrosept or Enromag can be given instead.
