Description of the Novocherkassk Jubilee grape variety, ripening characteristics and history

Grapes are a perennial plant, shrubby vines, most often grown en masse in countries with hot climates. But there are new varieties that can grow in the northern regions. Breeders and hobbyists breed dozens of varieties every year, but not all have quality characteristics and mass demand. The Jubilee Novocherkassk variety is one of the most successful grape hybrids.

History of the variety's creation

The grape variety was bred by amateur winegrower Viktor Nikolaevich Krainov for the anniversary of the city of Novocherkassk in 2004-2005. The parents of this variety were Talisman and Kishmish Radiant. Anniversary of Novocherkassk is a hybrid variety entered into the Russian register in 2016. He took all the best qualities from his parents, from Talisman - the yield and size of the berries, from Kishmish Radiant - the color and shape of the brushes.

Recommendations for planting

The most favorable place for the plant is partial shade, on the slope of the site. The soil should be neutral, light, fertile. Young seedlings are planted in mid-spring, when the threat of frost has passed at an air temperature of +10...+15 °C on the south, south-east side of the site, without drafts.

When planting, you should take into account the level of groundwater; if it is close, then a planting hole is made with a large layer of drainage, and there are drainage grooves around the bush to remove excess liquid.

favorable place

Before planting, a seedling with an open root system should be soaked in warm water for 2-3 hours. Then immerse the roots in a manganese solution for 15-30 minutes. The hole should be 2-3 times larger than the root system; place a layer of organic fertilizer on top of the drainage.

When does it ripen?

The Novocherkassk Jubilee variety begins to bloom in mid-to-late May, the inflorescences bloom for 8-15 days, by mid-August or the 1st decade of September, depending on the planting region, you can get mature brushes. Ripening period is 105-120 days.

Caring for grapes Jubilee Novocherkassk

Caring for grapes involves proper watering and pruning of bushes.

Watering is carried out once a week, in dry weather 2 times a week, 10-15 liters each. Watering is especially important before and during flowering and bunch setting. During the ripening of the berries, watering should be as necessary so that the berries do not begin to crack.

Pruning is carried out in the spring - sanitary and formative, frozen or damaged branches are removed. In the summer, the stepsons are pruned so as not to reduce the yield of fruit-bearing vines. In the fall, sanitary pruning is carried out.
