Insecticides used against a complex of pests are valuable in agriculture, especially when applied to a wide range of crops. Let's consider the purpose, composition, principle of action, instructions for using the Avant insecticide, safety precautions when working with it, possible compatibility, storage rules and products with a similar effect that can replace the drug.
Composition and preparative form of the drug "Avant"
The manufacturer, FMS Corporation, produces the drug in a concentrated emulsion in 1 liter canisters. It has an intestinal and contact effect, the active substance is indoxacarb, 150 g per 1 liter.
How the product works
As the manufacturers note, Avant has an effect on the nervous system of insects. Indoxacarb blocks the passage of nerve impulses, insects stop feeding within 1-2 hours, motor activity is disrupted, after a while they become dehydrated and die. Death occurs within 1-3 days after treatment.
What is it used for?
“Avant” has no analogues among drugs for the extermination of codling moths and leaf rollers in apple orchards, and leaf rollers on grapes. It is also used on rapeseed from flea beetles and flower beetles, on tomatoes and onions - from cutworms, on corn - from cutworms and moths, on sunflowers - from cutworms, moths and weevils, on sugar beets - from flea beetles and cutworms, weevils, stink bugs, moths, flies and moths.
Instructions for use
The drug solution is not washed off by water and rain, its stability is not affected by temperature and ultraviolet radiation. "Avant" has a low consumption rate, is easy to use, and environmentally friendly. The insecticide destroys pest larvae at all stages and is most effective when treating plants when the larvae hatch. The protective effect lasts 1.5-2 weeks.
Destroys populations of insects that have managed to develop resistance to pyrethroid, neonicotinoid and organophosphorus insecticides. There is practically no resistance among pests.
"Avant" is used normally (in l per hectare) for:
- apple trees – 0.35-0.4;
- grapes – 0.25-0.3;
- rapeseed – 0.14-0.2;
- tomatoes and onions – 0.2-0.3;
- corn and sunflower – 0.17-0.25;
- beets from flea beetles, weevils, shield beetles - 0.14-0.2;
- beets from cutworms, moths, flies and moths - 0.17-0.25.
Plants are sprayed at the seedling stage and throughout the growing season with a solution consumption in the first case - 100-200 liters per hectare, in the second - 200-400 liters per hectare. If the solution is sprayed from an airplane, 25-50 liters per hectare is sufficient. For vineyards and orchards, the consumption is higher - 800-1200 l and 1000-1500 l, respectively.
Application in personal gardens on apple trees, grapes, tomatoes and onions - against codling moths, leaf rollers, cotton moths and bollworms. The rate of use of "Avant" in private household plots: apple trees - 4 ml per 10 l, other crops - 3 ml per 10 l. Liquid consumption: 1-3 liters per tree, 0.5-1 liters per bush and 2-4 liters per hundred square meters when spraying vegetables. 2 treatments are carried out, the harvest can be harvested after 10 days for apple trees and grapes, after 3 for tomatoes and after 2 weeks for onions.
Safety precautions when working with insecticide
In terms of toxicity, Avant belongs to class 3 for humans and class 1 for bees. Preparations toxic to insects should not be used when trees are flowering or in areas near which there are apiaries. It is prohibited to use this insecticide near water bodies and fish farms.
It is recommended to work with Avanta solution in protective clothing, and be sure to wear rubber gloves and plastic goggles over your eyes. Do not remove them until the work is complete. If splashes accidentally come into contact with your skin or eyes, rinse them with clean water.
What is compatible with?
You can mix Avant with fungicides, the active substances of which belong to different classes of chemical substances. Powerful activity is observed in the Avanta solution with the drug Thanos or with fungicidal agents with penconazole, hexaconazole, famoxadone, dimethomorph, cymoxanil and flusilazole.
However, manufacturers recommend that if drug interactions are not clearly known, a compatibility test should be performed. It is carried out in a standard way: a certain amount of both drugs is mixed in a small container and, if the substances do not react with each other, they can be combined.
How to properly store pesticide?
The manufacturer does not indicate the shelf life of the drug. It should be stored in a dark, not humid, ventilated warehouse, in which, in addition to the insecticide, you can keep other pesticides and fertilizers. The prepared diluted solution is stored for no longer than 1 day. Then it loses its properties, so it is not advisable to use it. To save the drug, you need to prepare the solution in the amount that you plan to use in 1 working day.
