Agricultural pests spoil fruits not only in beds in the field, but also in storage. To protect the crop, scientists have developed an improved variation of the chemical “Karate”. The insectoacaricidal drug helps get rid of most sucking and leaf-eating pests. The performance qualities of Karate Zeon depend on compliance with the instructions for use and consumption rates specified by the manufacturer.
Composition and release form of the insecticide
The insecticidal drug belongs to the protective agents of enteric contact action. This effect on pests is due to the active substance included in the chemical - lambda-cyhalothrin, which is included in the category of pyrethroids. One liter of insecticide contains 50 grams of active ingredient.
The chemical is produced in the form of a microencapsulated suspension, which is packaged in 5-liter plastic canisters. The manufacturer of the insecticidal drug is Syngenta.
Operating principle and purpose of the product
The active substance of the chemical agent is characterized by an enteric contact mechanism of action on insect pests.
"Karate Zeon" is specially designed to combat leaf-eating and sucking pests that destroy crops such as tomatoes, soybeans, potatoes, apple trees, beets, onions, cabbage and others.
Lambda-cyhalothrin, which is the only active ingredient of the insectoacaricidal chemical, quickly penetrates the body of insect pests and has a paralyzing effect on their nervous system. After this, the parasites stop feeding and die as a result.
The chemical begins to act only after the working liquid has completely dried on the plant or pest, this approximately takes about 2 hours.
Farmers who sow large fields with crops for subsequent sale, and owners of modest summer cottages who grow vegetables and fruits for personal use, noted several positive aspects after using Karate Zeon.
The advantages of the insecticide include:
- wide spectrum of action on leaf-eating and sucking pests of cultivated plants;
- rapid negative impact on parasites and a long period of protection after treatment - up to 2 weeks;
- low cost of insecticidal preparation;
- no odor irritating the respiratory tract;
- low cost of the chemical;
- high efficiency of influence on both adult insects and their larvae;
- lack of phytotoxicity provided that the instructions for use are followed;
- high resistance to precipitation (not washed off by rain).
To prevent the development of pest resistance to the action of Karate Zeon, it is necessary to alternate it with other chemicals.
Instructions for use of "Karate Zeon"
The manufacturer's instructions indicate the optimal consumption rates for processing each plant; they are presented in the table:
cultivated plant | Insecticide consumption per 100 sq. meters of landings | Frequency of treatments |
Potato | 2 ml of the drug per 2-4 liters of clean water | One time |
Grape | From 3.2 to 4.8 ml per 8-10 liters of liquid | Twice per season |
Soybeans | 4 ml per 2-4 liters of clean water | One time |
Peas | From 1 to 1.25 ml per 2-4 liters of liquid | One time |
Bulb onions | From 1.5 to 4 ml per 2-3 liters of clean water | Twice during the growing season |
Apple trees | 4 ml of the drug per 10-15 liters of liquid | Twice during the growing season |
Wheat | From 1 to 2 ml of the drug per 4 liters of water | One time |
The working fluid is prepared immediately before spraying crops. Half the recommended amount of water is poured into a plastic bucket and the amount of insecticide is added. Mix thoroughly.After the solution acquires a uniform consistency, add the remaining liquid and stir again.
It is recommended to spray crops in dry weather when wind speed does not exceed 4 m/s. It is best to treat the area early in the morning or after 7 pm. When covering the sheet plates with the working solution, you must ensure that it flows onto the ground.
Safety precautions when working with the drug
"Karate Zeon" belongs to the 3rd class of toxicity for humans, warm-blooded animals and birds. However, it is highly toxic to water inhabitants and bees. It is recommended not to use the insecticide during the flowering period of the plant and not to drain the remaining working fluid into nearby bodies of water.
When working with chemicals, follow basic safety requirements:
- They put on overalls that cover the entire body of the person, and rubber gloves on their hands. The respiratory tract is protected from insecticide vapors using a respirator or mask.
- During treatment, it is forbidden to drink, smoke or eat, otherwise the chemical may get on the mucous membranes of the mouth and lead to poisoning.
- After spraying the plants, all work clothes are washed and hung outside for airing. The farmer must take a shower and rinse his mouth with clean water.
Compatibility with other substances
The instructions for the Karate Zeon insecticide indicate that it is allowed to be used with other protective chemicals. However, before mixing the products, be sure to conduct a test by combining small quantities of each drug. If flakes or heavy sediment appears, do not use it in the tank mixture.
Storage periods and rules
According to the manufacturer, the insecticide retains its working qualities for three years from the date of manufacture. It is recommended to keep Karate Zeon in closed utility rooms, where it is cool and dark. It is also important to limit access to the chemical to children and animals.
What can be replaced?
If necessary, you can replace Karate Zeon with drugs such as Compass, Kaizo or Lamdex.
