Cloudberries are a tasty and healthy berry, and compote made from it is an excellent way to prepare it for the winter according to various recipes. Compote can be made not only from cloudberries. Other fruits will help diversify the taste:

- 2 liters of water.
Cooking steps:
- Sort through the berries, discarding spoiled specimens. Place in a colander and place under running water.
- Place the cloudberries on a towel and leave to drain.
- In a large saucepan, mix water with sugar and put on fire.
- Place the berries in a jar and pour boiling syrup over them.
- Cover the top with a lid.
- Place the bottle in a large saucepan and fill it with water until the level reaches the shoulders of the bottle. The bottom of the pan must be covered with a rag to prevent the jar from bursting.
- Place over medium heat, bring to a boil and cook for 20 minutes.
After this, the jar is removed from the water and the lid is rolled up. Wipe off excess moisture with a towel. Turn the jar upside down and cover with a blanket. Leave for a day until completely cooled.
Preparing compote in a slow cooker
Several years ago, a multicooker took pride of place in every housewife’s kitchen. Using this device you can prepare any dish, including compote. And do it simply and quickly. Cooking in a slow cooker makes the taste rich and the color rich.
The ingredients for the drink and their quantities are the same as in the classic recipe. The preparation is as follows:
- Pour water into the multicooker container and select the “Cooking” mode. It will take 15-20 minutes to prepare the syrup. The time can be changed if the function is provided by the multicooker model.
- After selecting the program, add sugar and bring the drink to a boil. Leave for 3-4 minutes.
- Without turning off the cooking, throw the lids into the syrup to sterilize them.
- Place a steaming lid on top of the container and place the jar with the neck facing down. It will take no more than 3 minutes to sterilize the bottle.
- The washed cloudberries are poured into a colander and dipped in sugar syrup to boil. It is desirable that the water completely covers the berries.
At this stage, the preparation of the compote comes to an end. Cloudberries are poured into a sterile jar, and then the syrup is poured. Cover the top with a lid and roll it up with a key. Leave to cool completely under a blanket for a day.
Cloudberry compote with blueberries
You can diversify the taste of the drink with blueberries. The berry has a sweet and at the same time tart taste. When cooking the syrup, it is not advisable to add a lot of sugar, since blueberries do not have sourness. In addition to the interesting taste, the berries also provide a rich hue.
Cloudberry compote with blackberries
If a person does not like blueberries or does not have the opportunity to add them to a drink, you can replace them with another equally tasty and healthy berry - blackberries. The taste is different from blueberry.
Blackberries are sweet and have sour notes. The structure is similar to cloudberries and looks beautiful in a closed jar.
Compote of cloudberries and apples
The taste of cloudberries can be complemented with another fruit - an apple. When preparing, it is recommended to follow some recommendations. Cloudberries are a fragile berry, while apples have dense pulp. In order for the components to cook in the syrup at the same time and to complete readiness, you need to finely chop the apples.
Storing compote
After sealing the drink, the cans are taken out for storage in a dark and cool place. A basement, cellar or attic is suitable for this. The room temperature should not exceed +15 °C. Otherwise, the shelf life will be shortened.
If the housewife does not plan to prepare a large batch, you can leave the compote in the refrigerator. Cloudberry is a berry that can be stored for a long time.
