Description of the tomato variety Chernomor, its cultivation and yield

Tomato "Chernomor" is a widely known variety of dark-fruited tomatoes, characterized by good yield. Until recently, dark tomatoes in our summer cottages were a rare and exotic phenomenon, but today many gardeners grow them. It should be noted that despite the name, the fruits of the variety are mostly not black, but brown, dark brown or purple-burgundy.

Description of the variety

"Chernomor" is a mid-season variety (110-120 days from the moment of planting in the ground until the fruit ripens). The tomato is semi-determinate, suitable for both open ground and greenhouse conditions.

The height of the bush depends on the growing conditions, on average it reaches one and a half meters. The variety requires tying to a support and moderate pinching. The best yield was achieved when forming a bush of 2-3 stems.

Features of cultivation

Seeds for seedlings are sown 60-70 days before planting in a permanent place. Seedlings dive into the 2-leaf stage. When planting "Chernomor" on the beds, per 1 sq. meter usually place no more than 4 plants. Proper care of tomatoes consists of regular watering, timely weeding, and the use of mineral fertilizers.

  1. I planted a Chernomor tomato in a greenhouse. It grew over two meters and had to be trimmed. And those are good tomatoes. As for the taste, I can say that they are at their sweetest closer to autumn. And in the summer they taste no different from ordinary tomatoes. (Oleg Petrovich, Orenburg)
  2. “Chernomor” was recommended by a neighbor. The variety gave an excellent harvest. 43 healthy, delicious tomatoes from just one plant. Next year I plan to plant more. (Alevtina, Krasnodar)
  3. I read positive reviews about the variety on the Internet. I planted 4 bushes to try. I liked the taste of the tomatoes, very juicy and sweet. The downside is that some of the fruits are cracked. I don’t even know what this could be connected with. (Olesya, Izhevsk)
  4. I grew "Chernomor" in a greenhouse. The harvest was unusually rich. The tomatoes grew delicious, with fleshy pulp and an unusual exotic color. My whole family liked it. (Fedor Sergeevich, Serpukhov)
  5. Great tomatoes! Ideal for pickling! I rolled the burgundy Chernomor into jars along with yellow and red tomatoes. The combination turned out great. Very pleasing to the eye. (Anastasia, Neftekamsk)

I really liked the variety. Withstood cold weather and heavy rains. The harvest was good - 6-7 kg per bush. The fruits are sweet, with a slight sourness. Well suited for fresh salads and for making tomato juice. (Yulia Grigorievna, Veliky Novgorod)
