It can be very difficult for residents of the North and the Urals to find a tomato variety that can withstand cold temperatures in summer. The Kemerovo tomato can be grown even in unfavorable climatic conditions.
Description of tomato variety Kemerovo
Kemerovo tomatoes were introduced relatively recently by breeders from Western Siberia. The variety is included in the state register as a nightshade crop intended for cultivation in unfavorable climatic conditions. Plants can be grown in open and closed ground.
Description of the variety is one of the main points that must be studied before purchasing seeds. Just looking at a photo of a tomato will not be enough. First of all, it is worth noting that tomatoes belong to determinate, low-growing varieties. The height of the main stem of the plant does not exceed 55 cm. One of the advantages of the Kemerovo tomato is that it does not have to be tied up, and side shoots need to be constantly removed.
The bushes are not leafy, the leaves are of the usual shape, characteristic of tomatoes. The plant belongs to varieties with early ripening. From the moment the seeds are planted until the first fruits turn red, as a rule, no more than 100-103 days pass. The harvest is ripening en masse. You can grow a good harvest on light, nutritious soils. It is also worth noting that bushes rarely suffer from such a common disease among tomatoes as late blight.
Characteristics of tomato fruits Kemerovo
This variety has earned positive reviews mainly due to its fruits.

- They are distinguished by good presentation;

Features of growing Kemerovo tomato in open ground
The main advantage of this variety is its ease of care. To obtain a good harvest in the future, it will be enough to pay special attention to growing seedlings. Care for mature bushes is minimal. They will need to be watered several times a week, loosen the soil around them, and remove weeds. If necessary,1 mineral and organic fertilizers can be applied. If the plants grow well and produce a large number of ovaries, then fertilizing is not necessary. In this case, they will even be redundant.
I grow seedlings as follows:
- Before planting seeds, they must be disinfected and germinate. Planting material can be disinfected in a solution of iodine or potassium permanganate. The solution should be warm. Pour the seeds into the water and leave for 15 minutes.
- After this, you can germinate the planting material. For germination you will need natural fabric or gauze. It should be moistened.Cover the seeds and place in a warm place, for example, on a radiator. After 2 days, sprouts should appear. Such seeds can be planted in the ground.
- If the soil is taken from the garden, then it is warmed to room temperature and only then the seeds are sown. For planting, you can also use a special substrate for vegetables, purchased at the store.
- Place drainage (egg shells, small pebbles, pebbles or expanded clay) at the bottom of the container, cover it with soil and water it.
- Make small holes and plant seeds. Water by watering method.
- In order for the seedlings to start sprouting faster, you can create a “greenhouse” effect. The containers are covered with glass and put in a dark place where there is no sunlight. If you leave the boxes in the sun, you can burn all the sprouts.
- Every 3 days the glass is removed and the soil is ventilated and watered if necessary.
- When the seedlings appear, the glass is removed and the boxes are placed in the sun.
- You can pick the bushes after the first full leaves appear on them.
You can plant seedlings in open ground at the end of May. If spring was late, then at the beginning of June.
I planted the seedlings this way:
- Dig up the soil, mix it with manure or bird droppings;
- Plant seedlings without deepening them;
- Water generously. You can cover it with a warm cloth at night. You will have to cover until the bushes get used to the new place and get stronger.
Subsequent care for tomatoes is standard for all varieties.
