Characteristics and description of the Tarasenko Jubilee tomato variety, its yield

The Tarasenko anniversary tomato variety was bred by F. Tarasenko in 1987 by crossing hybrids, including the San Morzano variety. Tarasenko named the variety this way in honor of his 75th birthday. The variety is not included in the State Register of Breeding Achievements of Russia. The Legend Tarasenko variety has also been bred, unlike the Tarasenko Anniversary variety, it has elongated, oblong tomatoes that have a spout at the end. The variety is tall, mid-season. The hybrid Tarasenko 6 was also developed.

Characteristics and description of the variety: indeterminate, mid-season, 120 - 180 days pass from the appearance of the first shoots to harvest. The bushes are up to 2 m high, and if you don’t pinch the top of the main stem, then up to 3 m. Refers to liana-shaped tomatoes.

Description of the bushes

The main stem is thick and powerful, but when it grows, it becomes unstable. The foliage is average. The leaves are large, dark green, wrinkled, without down. The foliage resembles that of a potato. The root is powerful, but it grows not in depth, but in width. There can be up to 30 tomatoes on one brush.

The first inflorescence appears above the 3rd - 4th leaf, then inflorescences are formed every 2 leaves. From one bush they harvest from 8 kg or more. Seedlings are planted in open ground in the south and central region of Russia. In Siberia they are planted in greenhouses.

Description of fruits

The fruits are consumed fresh, placed in salads, purees, pastes, sauces, and canned. Their skin does not burst during heat treatment. But they do not squeeze out the juice, since the pulp is too dense.

  • You can't squeeze juice out of them.

Sowing seeds

Tomato seeds of the Tarasenko Jubilee variety are sown at the end of March, and the seedlings are planted in a permanent place after 60 days. If you want to plant seedlings in a greenhouse, you can sow the seeds 14 days earlier.

You can make your own soil by mixing 3 parts turf soil, 2 parts humus and 1 part wood ash. Heat the soil in the oven for 1 hour at 200 degrees.

Place the seeds in a bag and leave for 15 minutes. into a weak solution of potassium permanganate. Next, you can treat the seeds with the growth stimulator Immunocytophyte.

When sowing, make a 2 cm space between the seeds in the box, deepen them 2 cm, dusting them with soil. Then pour warm, well-settled clean water from a spray bottle, cover with film or glass, and leave small holes for ventilation. Place the box in a warm room with an air temperature of +25 – 30 °C.

When the first shoots appear, remove the cover and place the box on a bright windowsill. When 2 true leaves appear, plant the seedlings in a 300 ml container. On days without sun, illuminate the bushes with lamps.

14 days before transplanting seedlings to the site, harden them by first taking them out for 1 2 hours on the balcony, and then 3 4 hours.

Planting bushes in a permanent place

In the fall, scatter manure and complex mineral fertilizers on the ground, dig up the soil to the depth of a shovel. In the spring, water the soil with a solution of potassium permanganate and dig again.

Tarasenko variety

When 50–60 days have passed from sowing the seeds, plant the seedlings in the ground. Dig holes in a checkerboard pattern 30 cm deep, 15 cm wide, make a space between the holes of 70 cm. Then pour hot water into the holes, then wait until the liquid cools. Plant by placing it on 1 sq. m 3 bushes. If the seedling is too stretched, place it in a hole at an angle so that it lies. Then water each bush thoroughly.

Care

For the first week after planting the seedlings on the site, do not water them. Then tie up the tomatoes. Drive in the pegs, maintaining a distance of 3 m between the stakes, and place guy ropes at the top. Stretch several rows of wire between the pegs and tie the bushes. The next day after watering or rain, loosen the soil. Leave 1 - 2 stems, tear off the rest. Pluck stepchildren up to 4 cm every 10 days. Pick off 2–3 lower leaves every 10 days.

Water after the top layer of soil has dried, pour warm and well-settled water under the roots in the evening, being careful not to get on the leaves. Water once every 10-14 days. After watering and rain, loosen the soil. Water the plantings to remove weeds 3–4 times per season.

To prevent fungal diseases, treat tomatoes 3 times per season with preparations containing copper. From time to time, inspect the bushes and pull out weeds.

Feed seedlings with nitrogen only until mid-summer. When 14 days have passed after planting the seedlings, fertilize with phosphorus so that good roots grow and it begins to grow. When the tomatoes bloom, feed them with potassium.

To properly form the bushes, when they are 1.5 - 1.7 m high, pinch the top. In addition, pick off clusters that do not bear fruit. The first bunches can weigh up to 3 kg, because of this, tie them.

Since tomatoes ripen unevenly and at different times, they are picked unripe: the fruits then ripen during storage.

The most interesting reviews about the variety:

Andrey, Ufa:

“I planted tomato seeds of the Tarasenko Jubilee variety from the Sedek company. The seedlings were grown in open ground. I form the bushes into one stem and tear off the rest. I cover the seedlings with film until June 25, and then remove it. The tomatoes are very tasty - they have a thin skin that does not crack when pickled, and the flesh is fleshy.”

Natalya, Kursk:

“Last year I grew tomatoes of the Tarasenko Jubilee variety. I drove pegs between the bushes, screwed hooks into them, and tied brushes onto the hooks, since the harvest was simply huge.”

The tomato requires careful care, but by planting this variety, you will reap a very large harvest of beautiful, tasty tomatoes.
