Tomato Neptune is a hybrid variety. A sufficient number of tomatoes are tied on a small compact bush. The size of the plant allows owners of small plots or greenhouses to grow a hybrid.
Some features of the variety
The plant is sensitive to humidity levels; warm, dry air is the optimal conditions for growth. The hybrid is genetically resistant to diseases:
- septoria;
- alternaria, anthracnose;
- VTM.
Susceptibility to late blight is average.
Geographically distributed throughout all regions of the Russian Federation and Ukraine. Regions of admission according to the state register of the Russian Federation: Volga-Vyatka and Central regions (open ground).
Determinate type of growth. The height of the bush is about 70 cm.The plants are powerful, not standard. The foliage is light green, slightly corrugated. The first inflorescence is formed after 5–6 leaves, then after 1–2. Tomatoes are early ripening, in greenhouses it takes 80 days from germination to ripeness, in open ground - 98 days. - round and flat-round in shape, red, smooth;
- weight 100–110 g;
- high transportability and keeping quality;
- yield per 1 sq. m in a greenhouse - up to 13 kg, without shelter - up to 7 kg.
The taste of the Neptune f1 hybrid is good. 100 g of product contains:
- sugar up to 5%;
- dry matter 5.4–6.1%;
- ascorbic acid 23.5–23.7%;
Recommended agricultural technology
The planting site is chosen with a neutral or slightly acidic pH level (6–6.7). Eliminates the possibility of flooding and stagnation of water. Tomato variety Neptune will grow well on a southern slope, protected from the wind.
The beds are prepared in the fall. For 1 sq. m of area contribute:
- Organic matter 9–10 kg (rotted manure, compost).
- Phosphorus-potassium additives 20 g.
In spring - nitrogen-containing fertilizers (10 g per 1 sq. m). Before the winter season, the soil is dug up deeply, and with the onset of heat it is loosened several times.
Seedlings are transferred to the ground at the age of 55–60 days. For 1 sq. m, up to 9 plants are planted, as the compact shape of the bushes allows. Leave 40 cm between plants.
When planting, pour 50–100 g of sifted wood ash with superphosphate (1 tsp) into each hole. The seedlings are planted in drops, the soil around the tree trunk is mulched and watered abundantly. Tomatoes of the Neptune variety receive the first root feeding 14 days after planting. All stepsons located under the lower flowering brush are removed from the plant.
Harvesting

In an early-ripening hybrid, all ripe fruits are removed before the beginning of August. Tomatoes that have just begun to turn brown are removed. The harvest will ripen within 10–15 days in a sunny place. Such tomatoes will not differ in taste from those that are fully ripened on the bushes.
On determinate early ripening varieties, signs of wilting appear already in early August. Many people consider this the beginning of the disease, but in fact it is a natural process. In open ground, bushes are completely dug up when the air temperature drops below +8 °C.
At the end of the season, all plant debris is removed from the beds. The soil is dug up and green manure plants are planted. Reviews from gardeners agree that the Neptune hybrid is a problem-free tomato to grow.
