The size of ripe fruits varies greatly.
Maturation and results
The fruits ripen approximately 110–120 days after germination. The indicator is average. Based on their characteristics, the Viking variety is intended for cultivation in open ground. From 4 to 6 tomatoes ripen on a branch. Yield indicators:
- 136–354 centners per hectare.
- The maximum known yield is 712 centners per hectare.
These indicators are higher than standard for the Tambov region. The fruits are resistant to cracking and therefore store well. Reviews say that the marketable fruit yield is up to 87%.
Growing Tips
Breeders suggest growing the Viking tomato variety in the black soil zone, on private farms. The variety is ideal for use in salads not only in weight, but also in taste.
Due to its resistance to cold, it can grow in open ground without problems. This is true for the cold nights of early and late summer in the Black Earth climate. Yields vary greatly and depend on the following factors:
- Disembarkation dates.
- Climatic features when growing in open ground outside the Black Earth Region.
- Planting density.
- Timely weeding and treatment against pests and diseases.
- Glaze.
- Light mode.
Despite its resistance to drought, it requires balanced watering so that the tomatoes do not differ greatly in size. In industrial cultivation, this will require fewer sorting operations.
Landing scheme:
- 50 by 40 centimeters.
- Density: 7–9 tomatoes per 1 square meter.
It is better to plant after the following predecessors:
- Ogurtsov.
- Kabachkov.
- Carrots.
- Cauliflower.
- Parsley.
- Dill.
However, no one can cancel quality care. Only by following the rules can you grow a successful crop with high productivity. The more changeable the climate of the growing area, the more difficult it is to grow Viking tomatoes, the greater the variation in fruit size. This should be taken into account when choosing these seeds.
Northern regions are suitable for growing only in greenhouses and only with additional lighting. Otherwise, the harvest will be poor. Or the tomatoes will have to be left to ripen indoors.
