Features of preparing jam from serviceberry and currants for the winter
There are many recipes for creating desserts for the winter. Whichever one is chosen, it is important to observe the proportions and cooking time. The result depends on this.
The dessert is stirred during cooking. To ensure that the product is preserved for a long time and does not deteriorate, suitable containers and fruits must be selected.
Selection and preparation of berries
Various types of jam are prepared from serviceberry and black currant. These berries make a richly colored dessert. In order for the prepared products to turn out to be of high quality, it is necessary to correctly select and prepare the berries:
- Raw materials must be sorted. It is necessary to eliminate damaged, wrinkled, dry berries.
- Remove debris, branches, leaves.
- For jam you need ripe or slightly greenish berries.
- The stalks are also removed. If the rules are broken, the dessert will have dense tails.
Prepared berries must be washed in a colander under cool water. If the preparation is made from very dense, slightly unripe fruits, then they are blanched before being poured into a basin. So the raw material will be softer.
How to prepare the container?
For dessert you need to choose suitable containers. The most suitable jars are 0.5 and 1 liter, as well as 0.7.
It is important to check that the container does not contain defects - chips, cracks and other signs of deformation.
We only need high-quality jars, because only then can we preserve the products.
Selected containers should be washed with baking soda, which perfectly removes odors. Then they are thoroughly rinsed. All that remains is to sterilize the jars. The easiest way to do this is using a microwave. Containers 2 cm deep are filled with water and placed in the oven. Treatment for 2 minutes is sufficient to complete sterilization.
