Characteristics and description of the Krasnobay tomato variety, its yield

There are an innumerable number of varieties on the seed market, but the Krasnobai tomato is not lost among such diversity. This is a gardener's dream come true - large, abundant, hardy. Successfully competes with the best foreign and domestic counterparts.

Greenhouse hybrid from the agricultural company "Gavrish"

A team of Russian breeders under the leadership of Professor S. F. Gavrish has been conducting targeted work on breeding vegetables with desired properties for many years. Good greenhouses became more accessible, and gardeners demanded top quality tomatoes.Previous disease-resistant hybrids were too small, and non-hybrid large-fruited varieties were very sick in greenhouses.

The best characteristics were combined by the hybrid tomato variety Krasnobay F1 from the Gavrish seed company. In 2006, the variety was included in the State Seed Register and recommended for indoor soil on large farms and amateur gardeners.

Hybrids have one significant drawback: seed material must be purchased anew every year. Fortunately, seeds from Gavrish are cheaper than many foreign analogues. Germination is usually very good - at least 80 - 90%. Pre-treatment with stimulants is not required.

Speaking about the variety, it is worth mentioning its main distinctive characteristics.

Size and shape

Giving characteristics and descriptions of the Krasnobay tomato variety, first of all, they note the large fruit, which is rare for a hybrid. This parameter is unique even in comparison with other “beef tomatoes”: the size of each fruit in the first and second cluster often reaches half a kilogram. The average weight for all harvests is 300 – 350 grams.

Tomatoes are equal in weight and shape, do not shrink, rounded-flat, slightly ribbed. On unripe fruits, a dark green spot is visible at the stalk, which completely disappears when ripening.

Consistency

It was not for nothing that such vegetables were dubbed “beefsteaks” - the tomatoes are blood-red in color, meaty, strong, and not watery. A picky gourmet will probably accuse them of being harsh. Of course, in taste, hybrids are slightly inferior to non-hybrid varieties with “watermelon” pulp.

But tomatoes like Krasnobaya, with thick skin, are much more transportable and do not wrinkle during collection and transportation. Another important advantage is excellent keeping quality.Even ripe fruits can be stored until the New Year (and longer) - not only in a cool room, but also in a city apartment.

Purpose

Very tasty and beautiful salads are cut from beef tomatoes: the meaty slices do not get soggy and hold their shape perfectly. The ideal preparations are pieces preserved in gelatin. The juice and tomato paste are excellent and thick.

Whole-fruit canning is also possible - in barrels. Traditional barrel fermentation without adding vinegar is especially successful. It makes sense to prepare such an original preparation as sun-dried tomatoes.

Immunity

Greenhouse conditions, in addition to their undeniable advantages, create a serious problem: tomatoes in greenhouses often suffer from diseases. The advantage of the Krasnobay F1 hybrid is its high resistance to harmful infections:

Krasnobay variety

  1. Successfully resists stem mold and destructive spots - such as cladosporiosis, which leads to a shortage of half the harvest.
  2. Fusarium wilt also poses no threat to Krasnobay.
  3. The hybrid is practically not affected by the tobacco mosaic virus.
  4. There is no infection of the roots by nematode worms.
  5. The famous TV presenter, agronomist and author of books Oktyabrina Ganichkina, who grew many different varieties on her plot, notes that Krasnobay is even resistant to late blight attack.

Being picked unripe, the tomatoes ripen perfectly and do not turn black or rot.

It is very important that it is possible to minimize or completely eliminate chemical treatments of soil, bushes and fruits, and obtain environmentally friendly products.

Temperature

Temperature changes do not affect the quantity and quality of fruits. Productivity does not fall even in cool and cloudy summers, when tomato bushes are not too comfortable in closed ground.

Krasnobay is especially pleased in the fall in an unheated greenhouse, demonstrating the longest-lasting returns.

Agricultural technology

Enthusiastic reviews about the productivity of the Krasnobay tomato come from those vegetable growers who follow the basic rules of cultivation.

Deadlines

The variety is usually called mid-late, although the tomato fits well into the mid-season category. It begins to ripen 120 days after germination, a couple of months after planting 60-day-old seedlings. It is quite natural that large-fruited tomato cannot be precocious. Fruiting is long and extended.

You need to sow seeds for seedlings quite early - in February. Optimal temperature conditions and timely picking are of particular importance. Seedlings tend to stretch, so additional lighting and the use of Atlet may be necessary.

After planting in the greenhouse, young plants quickly grow and require timely staking.

Normalization

Krasnobay is an indeterminate hybrid, with a genetic tendency to continuous growth. It realizes its full potential only in greenhouses with sufficient ceiling height. The first flowers appear in the axil of the 11th leaf. During the season, the plant is able to successfully form approximately 8 brushes, after which the apical growth point is removed.

There are usually 5 ovaries in an inflorescence (if there are more flowers, it is recommended to pluck out the extra ones). The brushes are heavy when pouring; they should not be allowed to break; each one must be tied up. It is very important to promptly remove all side branches (stepchildren), leading the plant exclusively to one stem - This is the only way to achieve maximum productivity.

The one who planted Krasnobay collected both a bucket and a bucket and a half from one plant. You can actually get 30–40 kg of standard fruit per square meter. Such a harvest is produced by 3–4 bushes; thickening is unacceptable.

Nutrition

For large-fruited varieties, nutrition is critical. The soil should not be acidic, otherwise beneficial substances are poorly absorbed and blossom end rot appears. Planting holes are filled with a mixture of organic and mineral fertilizers. During the season, several liquid root and foliar feedings are carried out. They are made complex, with microelements.

Alternating drought and heavy watering can lead to cracking of the fruit. It is very important to maintain constant moderate soil moisture. A technique such as mulching works well.
