Tomato Tiger Cub - this variety of tomatoes was bred by Russian breeders for open ground and film greenhouses. And although this vegetable crop appeared on the market relatively recently, there are more and more people who want to plant tomatoes with original colors every season.

Vegetable growers are attracted by the exotic coloring of ripe fruits, reminiscent of the skin of a tiger cub (it’s not for nothing that the variety received this name), the fairly high yield of the bushes, and the remarkable marketability and taste of the harvested crop.
Description and characteristics of the variety
Tiger Cub belongs to the indeterminate type, the bushes are tall, well branched, the shoots are moderately leafy, erect, up to 1.4-1.6 m high, the foliage is simple, medium in size, typically tomato, emerald in color.
The shoots should be pinched at the tops to stop the growth of the vegetative part of the bushes. Despite the average size of ripe tomatoes, tall stems require gartering to trellises (or supports). In order for the crop to fully ripen, the bushes should be formed into no more than 3 stems. Regular removal of side shoots and side shoots is mandatory.
Tiger Cub tomatoes are mid-season varieties - more than 3.5 months pass from the moment of sprouting to harvest. The first ovaries are formed at the level of 4-5 permanent leaves, the next inflorescences are formed after 2-3 leaves. The inflorescences are racemose, with 8 to 12 fruits ripening in each raceme.
The shape of ripe tomatoes is round, similar to typical apples, weighing 40-80 g. The pulp is fleshy and juicy. The skin is dense and not prone to cracking. The color is red with orange stripes, reminiscent of the skin of a tiger. Taste qualities are high, the fruits are sweet with a slight sourness. During rainy, cold seasons, the fruits grow more sour.
This variety is characterized by high productivity - more than 10 kg of ripe tomatoes are harvested from 1 m². The harvested crop tolerates transportation well; ripe tomatoes have a high shelf life, and neither their marketable nor taste qualities deteriorate during the storage period. Harvested tomatoes are universal: thanks to their unusual appearance and excellent taste, they will decorate any table, they look good when whole-canned, and you can also prepare delicious tomato juice and tomato puree.
Tomato variety Tiger Cub is highly resistant to most fungal diseases, in particular late blight and gray rot.
