Characteristics and description of productive varieties of Minusinsk tomatoes

Nothing distinguishes Minusinsk tomatoes from other varieties more than their impressive size. The appearance of tomatoes is so diverse that vegetables collected from different bushes under one common name do not have any characteristic features that would classify them as fruits of the same type. There are varieties of tomatoes similar in shape to hearts or sweet pepper pods, there are those with pronounced sourness and honey ones, loose at the break and dense.

Description of Minusinsk varieties

All Minusinsk tomatoes belong to the mid-season, indeterminate type, have a bush formed in 1-2 stems (the second stem is the stepson) and, subject to agrotechnical conditions, produce a yield of 4 to 6 kg per bush. Despite the amazing length of the stem, sometimes reaching 2.5 meters, the plant is extremely unstable and, without garter, will break even when the first clusters are formed.

Tomatoes of this variety, compared to other products from Minusinsk breeders, are pleasing with their small size (up to 500 g in total) and neat round shape, slightly flattened at the stalk. The color during the period of maximum ripeness is red-pink, the skin is thin, the vegetable, when broken, reveals loose sugar pulp; taste – sweet, without sourness.

The apple tomato (asleep) and the stem growth are slightly lower than other Minusinsk tomatoes - only up to 180 cm, but just like the others, they need gartering and removal of excess shoots. One stepson, grown under the lowest fruit cluster, is left to form a second stem, which is then tied up separately.

Apple fruits are consumed fresh, as additives to first and second courses, for making juices and canned sauces (salads).

Minusinsk glasses

For growing in open ground, these glass-shaped tomatoes: pink, bright red and orange-pink (when unripe, reminiscent of Ruslan tomatoes) are not suitable for the middle and northern zone, therefore these tomatoes are conventionally classified as greenhouse tomatoes. The length of the plant stem reaches 250 cm, and the glass-shaped fruits are surprisingly small, considering the characteristics of the Minusinsk plant in general - 300 g or less.

Growing this type of tomato Minusinsky ones are carried out in full, and the bush itself is formed into one stem. Due to the relatively small size of the plant, it is allowed to plant 4 seedlings per 1 m2, while the promised yield of 3.5-4 kg per bush does not suffer.

The long fruit is not susceptible to cracking; the peel is quite dense, so it is suitable for preservation in its entirety. However, due to the increased sugar content, tomatoes are most often consumed fresh or used in the preparation of various dishes.

In terms of external and taste characteristics, tomatoes of this type are confused with the Minusinsk bulls variety, but the latter is somewhat different in the shape of the tomatoes, or more precisely, in its “blunt” nose. Otherwise, the growing conditions and methods of using vegetables are absolutely identical.

Giant Minusinsky

The Minusinsk giant is capable of producing vegetables weighing up to 1.5 kg, and can give a scattering of relatively small 300-gram tomatoes - it all depends on the growing conditions and personal preferences of the gardener.

Since the stem of the plant is very high - from 2 m and above, tying and pinching are required, but for better results it is also recommended to carry out topping.

To obtain heavy, giant fruits, a long bush is formed into one main stem, all stepsons are removed immediately after appearance, and the number of fruits on the bush is regulated by the required quantity. For standard yields with tomatoes weighing up to 700 g, you can leave the lower stepson to form a second stem. At 1 m2 It is allowed to plant from 2 to 3 seedlings.

Giant tomatoes have a bright red color and are shaped like hearts, and the smaller the size, the more pronounced the “heart”. The taste of the fruit is very sweet, sugary.

Burlak Early Ripe

Burlak Minusinsky, the only early-ripening variety from the entire selection collection of the presented series. The leaves of the plant resemble potato leaves, the length of the main stem reaches 180 cm. The Burlak tomato gives the best results in terms of yield when arranged in two stems.

The fruits of the variety are flat rather than round in appearance, the maximum weight of a fruit unit is about 500 g. The pulp is very sweet, with a well-defined granularity.

Minusinsk tomatoes

The Minusinsk tomato is the forerunner of all other varieties of this variety, therefore its characteristics are taken as reference for breeding derivative varieties. The initial description of the variety provides information that the ancient Minusinsk plant bore fruit with tomatoes weighing over 2 kg, but now, when forming a bush into one stem, removing stepsons and other tricks of modern gardeners, only individual fruit units reach 1 kg and a little more.

When ripe, the pink fruit acquires a rich raspberry hue and a sweet taste. Slightly unripe tomatoes have a slight sourness and are also suitable for cooking and canning.

Balls Minusinsk

Minusinsk balls look like real dwarfs in size of their bright, red-pink fruits - only about 200 g, and the yield of the bush, in comparison with other Minusinsk trees, is considered average - within 3-3.5 kg, and this is with double-stem formation!

The fruits are very dense, with a lot of juice, sweet, but are intolerant to high soil moisture - they immediately begin to crack and quickly lose their presentation.

Harvest Minusinsk

Minusinsky Harvest variety is one of the most fertile, capable of producing 6 kg or more per bush, with a relatively small size of the plant as a whole.Fruits of the standard type - 200-250 g are obtained when a bush is formed into two stems, larger tomatoes - up to 400 g, grow on a single-stemmed bush.

The fruit is not grainy when broken; the core is dense, juicy, moderately sweet, and has a rich red hue. The fruits are used in all kinds of culinary recipes and are especially good in preservation.

For all types of this assortment, the following are required: pinching, pinching, mulching and timely feeding. The scheme for watering seedlings is the same for all large-fruited fruits, but hardening off the seedlings before planting in the ground cannot be avoided - Minusinsk varieties are very susceptible to sudden changes in temperature conditions.
